Ahead of Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey, the Greek epic is getting another reimagining courtesy of artificial intelligence.

Michael Caine‘s AI clone has voiced an audiobook version of Homer’s poem, alongside a full cast of other AI voices and music.

The adaptation is available for free on the ElevenReader from ElevenLabs, the AI audio company that counts Matthew McConaughey among its investors.

Caine, famed for roles in The Dark Knight and The Italian Jobpartnered with ElevenLabs last year to clone his voice. The replica will be used in the 13-hour “cinematic” production, which took six-weeks to produce.

The Odyssey is one of the greatest stories ever told. For nearly three millennia, its themes of perseverance, loyalty, temptation, and the enduring call of home have resonated across cultures and generations,” Caine said.

“By bridging classical storytelling with digital innovation, this timeless epic is reimagined for modern audiences.”

Jack McDermott, a growth leader at ElevenLabs, added: “For centuries, stories like The Odyssey have been passed from one generation to the next through written and spoken word.

“This production builds on that tradition, combining human creativity with the latest AI production capabilities to create an audiobook experience that feels truly immersive.”

ElevenLabs is tapping into the buzz for The Odyssey by working with Caine, who has long been one of Nolan’s favorite collaborators.
