Just last year, co-directors Alex Woo and Erik Benson invited audiences to dive headfirst into the world of dreams with the vibrant and exciting In Your Dreams, while Phil Johnston, Todd Kunjan Demong, and Katie Shanahan put a musical twist on one of the most celebrated works of Roald Dahl in The Twits. With no plans of slowing down anytime soon, the studio will soon offer viewers a trip to a tropical locale without leaving the comfort of their own home, thanks to the arrival of Swapped. Featuring a stacked voice cast led by Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Juno Temple (Venom: The Last Dance), the film will warm your heart as you follow along with the two protagonists on the journey of their lives. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re not only lucky enough to share a new look at the film, but also a statement from its director, Nathan Greno, that gives future fans a better idea about the adventure that lies ahead.

Swapped follows an unlikely pairing between a petite woodland mammal (Jordan) and a majestic bird (Temple) who live in the colorful animal kingdom known as the Valley. After swapping bodies with one another, the duo embarks on a topsy-turvy journey that will show them they’re not so different after all. In addition to Jordan and Temple, the voice cast also includes the talents of Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) and Cedric the Entertainer (The Original Kings of Comedy).

In our exclusive first look image, audiences can get a good feel for Swapped as well as the lively styles used by Skydance Animation. Taking to the air, the woodland mammal flashes a gleeful smile while clinging to the back of the majestic bird as they soar high above the Valley floor.

‘Swapped’s Director Teases an “Emotionally Grounded” Joyride

Swapped marks Greno’s return to filmmaking following the massive success of the 2010 Disney animated favorite Tangled. In an exclusive to Collider statement, the director said of his latest foray into animation:

“Swapped lives in a world that feels deeply researched and emotionally grounded, yet constantly surprises you. Just when you think you understand where the story is headed, it shifts —sometimes literally — through species and perspective, revealing a larger ecosystem at play. It’s a body swap story, but on a scale and spectrum audiences haven’t seen before."
