Megan Thee Stallion breaks silence after she was rushed to the hospital as new details are revealed

Megan Thee Stallion has broken her silence after her shocking health scare.

She was rushed to the hospital mid-performance of the Broadway musical Moulin Rouge in New York City on Tuesday. 

The 31-year-old rapper, who is currently playing the role of Zidler in the production, was taken to a nearby hospital after feeling unwell shortly after the opening scenes of the show. 

'Last night was a real wake-up call for me. I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me,' said the star on Instagram on Wednesday morning.

'I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t. Hotties I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting y'all down.

'I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been...

'I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve. Thank you for always riding with me and loving me through everything.'

The Daily Mail has more exclusive details, however, like what exactly she suffered from.

'On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms,' her spokesperson told The Daily Mail.

'Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting.

'Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well-wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler on Moulin Rouge on Thursday.'

The Daily Mail also had a source at the show.

'She appeared well. She got a large applause when she came onstage. She was onstage for maybe three to four scenes. Nothing too strenuous. A few lines of dialogue but no dancing. The role of Zidler doesn’t require a lot of movement though,' said the eyewitness.

'Right after halfway through the first act, Megan exited the stage. The next scene began and while two actors were engaging in dialogue an announcement went off saying the show is to be paused and will resume shortly. 

'The cast looked unaware and calmly left the stage. The lights turned on after two minutes which was an indicator that it was going to be a longer pause. 

'Many people wondered what was going on since normally when a show pauses you can hear audio problems that require fixing or a set piece grinds that needs to be adjusted. Here it was just sudden. The lights were on for about 20 minutes before the show resumed,' the eyewitness relayed.

'She had two lines in her last scene before it was stopped. Her last scene was about five minutes before the pause happened. Beforehand she cut off an actor's lines and messed up two lines.

Then the understudy took over and the house announced refunds were available. About 20 people left for a refund.

Megan kicked off her role as Zidler in the Tony-winning musical last week on March 24 in NYC at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. 

The Sweetest Pie hitmaker is slated to step into the shoes of the character through May 17. 

The star had previously expressed her excitement to perform on the Broadway stage and called it an 'honor.' 

'Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,' she said in a statement, per Playbill.  

She continued, 'I've always believed in pushing myself creatively and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I'm excited to embrace. 

'Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling, but I'm up for the challenge and can't wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.' 

Producer Carmen Pavlovic added that it was 'thrilling' to have Megan joining the Broadway production. 

'We want our show to go out with a spectacular bang, and Megan is the force of nature to lead us there.'

Pavlovic added, 'And yes, there will be a hint of music from her own iconic catalogue. It's an unmissable moment for both Megan's fans and ours.'

The cast of the show also includes Kelsie Watts, Christian Douglas, David Harris and Andre Ward.  

The Broadway production is based on the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. 

The movie was a box office success upon its release in theaters and garnered eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. 

Megan is no stranger to the music industry - and is known for releasing hits such as Hot Girl Summer and Savage. 

She has already garnered three Grammy wins thus far in her career including Best New Artist in 2021. 

The star has also dropped three studio albums: Good News (2020), Traumazine (2022) and Megan (2024).

However, the performer recently expressed that her Broadway debut earlier this month had been 'manifested' - and revealed her mother had encouraged her to be in plays when she was younger. 

Megan told USA Today, 'I guess that manifested into me being who I am today, but going back to her putting me in plays when I was young, when I got the opportunity to be a part of Broadway... 

'I was like, "Wow. I feel like this is something that my mom would've really wanted me to do."' 

She added, 'So, loving Moulin Rouge! and knowing that my mom loved theatre, I feel like she saw this for me. 

'I feel like she manifested this for me. So, I feel really excited to do it, and I'm (going to) put my all into it.'
