EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios has added six more to the cast of its romantic comedy Goodbye Girl: Megan Mullally (Chasing Summer), Alan Ruck (HBO’s upcoming Rooster), Zosia Mamet (Girls), Catherine Cohen (Sentimental Value), Andrew Bachelor (Roadhouse 2), and Anthony Keyvan (XO, Kitty).
Currently in production in New Orleans, the film is led by Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse, as we told you first. Natalia Dyer and David Iacono also star. Character details for all supporting cast are under wraps.
Directed by Oran Zegman (Honor Society), Goodbye Girl follows Jess (Shipka), who’s a professional heartbreaker. Literally. When she’s hired by a cowardly bride to dump her groom (Sprouse) days before their wedding, she not only fumbles the job … but falls hopelessly in love.
Written by Danielle Hoover and David Monahan, from a story conceived with Jessica Elbaum, the film hails from Gulfstream Pictures, which provided some financing. Mike Karz and William Bindley are producing for Gulfstream, alongside Dawn Bierschwal and Ryan Lewis of The RAD Lab and Daniel Wagner, with the film to premiere worldwide on Prime Video.
“GOODBYE GIRL brings together a remarkable ensemble of established icons and exciting new faces for a romantic comedy that feels both classic and completely fresh,” said Gulfstream’s Karz and Bindley. “This film captures the charm, humor, and emotional honesty that define the best love stories. We’re thrilled to see this talented cast come together in New Orleans to bring a smart, character-driven comedy to life for audiences.”
Goodbye Girl marks the fifth Gulfstream title picked up by Amazon MGM, following the upcoming Pretty Lethal, starring Uma Thurman, Maddie Ziegler, Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Millicent Simmonds, and Avantika; Upgraded, starring Camila Mendes, Marisa Tomei, Archie Renaux, and Andrew Schulz; The Other Zoey, starring Josephine Langford and Drew Starkey; and One Fast Move, starring KJ Apa and Maia Reficco. Gulfstream is also producing the upcoming Honeymoon with Harry, starring Jake Gyllenhall and Kevin Costner, for Amazon MGM.
Mullally is repped by UTA; Ruck by Independent Artist Group and Teitelbaum Artist Group; Mamet by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment; Cohen by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners; Bachelor by CAA, Christina Bachelor, Artists First, and Hansen, Jacobsen, Teller; and Keyvan by Prototype Talent Agency, Protégé Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
