The Expert Edit features interviews with specialists about the products they swear by in their chosen field. For the latest installment, we spoke to fashion and beauty expert Jeneé Naylor about her fashion product recommendations and must haves for maintaining a great wardrobe.
You can't talk about influencers without mentioning Jeneé Naylor. If you're an OG fan like me, you may know her as "High Low Luxxe," the alias under which she creates innovative fashion content, often mixing high-end finds with more affordable pieces. She can sport every outfit combination from a $30 pair of pants from Mango and a Loewe bag to H&M shorts and Yves Saint Laurent sunnies — the "ultimate high-low mixer," as she says. Although her coveted blog still holds this name, Naylor has evolved into one of the most sought-after voices in fashion and beauty, thanks to her decision to leave a career of fashion retail in 2019. Just a little over five years into full-time blogging, she's amassed a following of nearly 1.2 million supporters across her blog, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and most recently, her podcast "Style Unlocked." And she's achieved it all by drawing on her natural inclination to share.
"I always worked in retail in some capacity, but I also just liked sharing," she says. "If you saw me in the mall and you liked my pants, I would tell you where they're from and how much they cost; I love helping people, I love promoting people, and I love elevating people." Naylor's helpful nature has granted her access into some of the industry's biggest rooms, from hosting live shopping events with brands like Hanifa and Nordstrom to designing a collection with Target (the two retailers being her former places of employment).
The biggest fashion tip I always share with people? Loving everything in your closet. [...] If you have things that kind of work, it just gets harder to get dressed because you're working overtime to make that one thing look good; if you have two blazers or dresses that you love, it becomes easier to get dressed.
In a world full of endless trend cycles and short-lived fads, the St. Louis native credits her success to her lasting bond with her community. "Anytime I need motivation or creativity, I go live because I get to connect with my audience; the reason I do what I do," she explains. "I value natural community and ensure that I'm taking care of people in any room I enter, and they take care of me, sending opportunities that I'm typically not looking for and they just make sense. My audience cheers me on, so everything feels like the right place, the right time." And with this ethos, the creator couldn't be more aligned with her purpose.
Her mission is affordable luxury, debunking the myth that great style and luxury experiences are out of reach based on one's income. Through her relatable content that includes product reviews, GRWMs, and a slew of editorial-level photoshoots to admire, she shows her audience that you can have the finer things in life, regardless of your tax bracket. It starts with building a capsule wardrobe you love. "The biggest fashion tip I always share with people? Loving everything in your closet," she says excitedly. "And I know that sounds impossible, but if you really think about it when you are purging things or going through different seasons, no matter what it is, you should really love it. If you have things that kind of work, it just gets harder to get dressed because you're working overtime to make that one thing look good; if you have two blazers or dresses that you love, it becomes easier to get dressed."
Ahead, Naylor shares more brilliant tips for finding (or rebranding) your personal style, her favorite fashion and beauty purchases, and the white tank top she can't live without.

A Primer
Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Glow Serum ($34)
Danessa Myricks is one of the chief brands that actually deliver inclusivity, and their Yummy Skin serum is one of Naylor's beauty must-haves. "It's the best, especially since I have dry, eczema-prone skin, so I have to hydrate because I like a powdery finish. The serum hydrates my skin really well, even if I'm not wearing makeup and want to give a natural glow," she says.

A White Tank Top
Massimo Dutti 100% Linen Strappy Top ($40)
Naylor keeps a quality tank top as a staple in her wardrobe arsenal, especially during spring and summer. "I love the tanks from Massimo Dutti — they have really good stretch in them, are very comfortable, and last long. I've had the same ones for the last two years," she says.

A Foundation
Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation ($49)
The Haus Labs foundation has passed the TikTok and PS editor test, so it's no surprise that our favorite influencer loves it, too. It not only comes with an impressive range of 51 shades, but it hydrates your skin — thanks to its ingredients like fermented arnica, intellizen 7 complex™, and bioferment 7 complex™.

A Serum
Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil Serum ($150)
If you struggle with dry skin, Naylor highly recommends adding this serum from Guerlain to your routine. It contains a stellar honey trio that revitalizes and supports the skin: trogstad, ouessant, and connemara. She uses it in her morning and night routines, often waking up with her skin still hydrated after wearing it overnight.

Dress Shorts

Naylor credits these Helsa shorts as a great option for summer shorts that look polished and not too casual. They have a subtle A-line waist, making it a figure-flattering piece, especially if you have curvy hips.

A Ruffle Dress
Norma Kamali V-Neck Ruffle Mini Dress ($235)
Understandably, Norma Kamali is one of Naylor's favorite brands to shop. This red ruffle number is a dress that she's been loving lately, from its built-in bodysuit to its flirty hem. "It's super comfortable, but also looks very elegant. I might wear it for Cowboy Carter, but I'm not sure — it's just a good spring, summer staple no matter if you want to dress up or down," she shares.

A Swarovski Piece
Swarovski Matrix Y Necklace ($530)
The content creator loves topping her standout looks with jewelry, particularly from Swarovski. This tennis necklace along with the Swarovski Matrix Drop Earrings ($189) are her top accessory picks. "I don't like to fuss with accessories, and these pieces give you that wow factor, so [you] don't need to pile a lot on," she says.

Thong Sandals
Alaïa Thong Sandals ($1,550)
In case you're looking for your next favorite summer heel, consider these thong sandals from Alaïa. The influencer has been eyeing this pair for a while, so you might see her in it one of these days. It's made from lambskin and calfskin leather so you're sure to get the quality you're paying for. "You could wear this on a night out with jeans or with shorts — it's just gorgeous," Naylor says, giving her stamp of approval.

An Oversized Blazer
Wardrobe.NYC Double Breasted Contour Blazer ($1,750)
One thing you'll see Naylor in almost any time of year? A blazer. She counts this one from Wardrobe.NYC as a splurge-worthy purchase that she doesn't regret. "If I'm splurging, it's typically going to be some type of outerwear — like this blazer. I've had it for probably two years and I just bought a pink version, recently," she says. With this blazer's hourglass silhouette and precise design notes, we're definitely influenced.
