Meg Ryan, 64, beams as she makes rare red carpet appearance with son Jack Quaid... 25 years after bitter split from his dad Dennis

Meg Ryan made the rare move of stepping out with son Jack Quaid for Narrative Art Museum's opening night gala on Saturday night.

The 64-year-old actress – who shares Jack, 34, with ex-husband Dennis Quaid – was a proud mom as she posed alongside the young actor. 

She looked stylish as ever in a sleeveless black dress with a monochrome floral pattern embossed throughout.

Ryan added dark sunglasses and sported her signature blonde bob in a shaggy, tousled texture.

For his part, Jack looked handsome and fashion-forward double-breasted grey suit, white shirt, and patterned black and grey tie.

In addition to Jack, Ryan is mom to 22-year-old daughter Daisy, whom she adopted from China in 2006. 

In July 2024, Jack publicly embraced his nepo baby status, telling the Daily Beast, 'I am an extremely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that's more than half the battle.'

He added, 'I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways that it's just not for a lot of actors. And I've just tried to work as hard as I possibly can to prove that I deserve to walk through that door.'

Ryan previously defended her son against the nepotism label, telling Glamour magazine in December 2023, 'Jack is really talented. He's more of a natural than I'll ever be.

'That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.' 

Responding to his mother's comments, Jack explained to the Daily Beast, 'My first thought was like, she's being a mom. She's being a loving mom. But I don't think she's trying to say that I'm not a nepo baby. I think she's just trying to say that, in her opinion, it undermines my talent.'

He countered, 'I don't think it undermines my talent. I know that I work hard, and I know I've heard "no" way more than I've heard "yes." But I also know that this industry is insanely hard to break into, and I had an easier time doing that than most. Both things can be true.' 

Jack made his film debut in 2012's The Hunger Games, starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

He's since gone on to build an impressive Hollywood resume that includes roles in 2022's Scream reboot, the biographical thriller Oppenheimer (2023), and three seasons of the satirical superhero series The Boy. 

His next project is the comedy Close Personal Friends, from Amazon MGM Studios.

He will appear onscreen alongside Henry Golding, Brie Larson, and fellow nepo baby Lily Collins.

Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid were married in 1991 before welcoming Jack the following year. The pair split in 2001 follow Ryan's highly-publicized affair with her Proof of Life co-star Russell Crowe. 

While their split was initially acrimonious, the pair are now on friendly terms 25 years later, reuniting for Jack's wedding to Australian actress Claudia Doumit earlier this year.
