Matthias Schoenaerts (“Rust and Bone,” “The Mustang”), Makita Samba (“Paris, 13th District,” “Furcy,” “Kika”) and Marton Csokas (“The Equalizer,” “Resurrection,” “Asylum”) are joining Halle Berry in “Fleur,” which begins production this week in Paris.

Written and directed by Ellie Foumbi (“Our Father, the Devil”), “Fleur” tells the story of a New York housewife (Berry) who flees America and her husband of 30 years (Csokas) to reinvent herself in Paris as Fleur, an upscale escort and dominatrix carving out her own power and identity. But as her past collides with her new life, the question isn’t just whether she’ll return… but whether she can.

Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios will finance and co-produce “Fleur” in association with Victor Hadida’s Davis Films, which has taken French rights and will distribute there through Metropolitan Filmexport. “Fleur” will be produced by Killer Films’ Christine Vachon (“Materialists,” “May December”), HalleHolly’s Berry and Holly Jeter (“Never Let Go”), and Gabriel Mayers (“A Different Man,” “Mad Bills to Pay”) of Plot Twist Pictures. “Fleur” will be executive produced by AGC’s Ford, Miguel Palos and Zach Garrett, Davis Films’ Hadida, Killer Films’ Pam Koffler and Lorelle Lynch. Paris-based Vixens (“Emilia Pérez,” “The Fence”) is providing production services.

Schoenaerts came to international prominence in Michaël Roskam’s “Bullhead,” which was nominated for the 2012 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Schoenaerts next starred opposite Marion Cotillard in Jacques Audiard’s “Rust and Bone,” which was in competition at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The film received Golden Globe, BAFTA and César Award nominations, with Schoenaerts winning the César for Most Promising Actor for his role. He went on to appear in films across both Europe and the U.S., including Thomas Vinterberg’s “Far From the Madding Crowd,” Tom Hooper’s “The Danish Girl,” Luca Guadagnino’s “A Bigger Splash,” Alice Winocour’s “Disorder” and “The Mustang” by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre. Schoenaerts is currently filming “Eldorado,” directed by Lola Quivoron and will next be seen starring in Craig Gillespie’s “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” for Warner Bros. and DC Studios, in Terrence Malick’s “The Way of the Wind” and in Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “Violette.”

Samba trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris, following his studies at Cours Florent where he received the Olga Horstig Prize. His first major film role was in Markus Schleinzer’s “Angelo.” He later played the lead in Jacques Audiard’s “Paris, 13th District,” earning a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actor. In 2024, he starred in Abd Al Malik’s “Furcy, né libre,” as well as Alexe Poukine’s “Kika,” which debuted at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in Critics’ Week. He has worked under the direction of Jean Pierre Garnier, Guillaume Vincent, the Birgit Ensemble, Hédi Tillette de Clermont Tonnere, and most recently Chloé Dabert.

Csokas has worked with leading filmmakers including Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, Darren Aronofsky, Jim Sheridan, John Madden and David McKenzie. His screen highlights include “Asylum” with Natasha Richardson and Ian McKellen, “The Lord of the Rings” franchise, “The Debt” with Jessica Chastain, “The Equalizer” with Denzel Washington, “Evilenko” with Malcolm McDowell, and acclaimed turns in “Chevalier” and “Cuckoo.” Recent films include “Head South,” “The Last Duel,” “Freelance,” “Sleeping Dogs,” “Kingdom of Heaven” and “The Debt.” He also stars in Australian series “Goolagong” and German-language series “Black Gold.” His stage work includes Broadway’s “Parisian Woman” and Off Broadway’s “Little Foxes.” He received the prestigious Jeff Award, for his performance as Astrov in “Uncle Vanya,” at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre. He will be seen next in Mel Gibson’s forthcoming movie, “Resurrection.”
