Matthew Macfadyen displayed a new dapper look on Tuesday, as he arrived at the premiere of his new series The Miniature Wife at DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles.

The actor, 51, looked more handsome than ever as he posed for the cameras with his onscreen wife, Elizabeth Banks, with the co-stars displaying their natural chemistry as they larked about on the carpet.

In a subtle switch-up of his look, Matthew sported a pair of stylish clear-rimmed gasses and a looser-fitting navy blue suit, teamed with a white button-down.

The Pride and Prejudice star completed his dashing ensemble with a bright blue polkadot tie and a paisley-patterned silk pocket square.

He was spotted laughing with a glamorous Elizabeth, 52, who showcased her enviable figure in a black leather gown, with elegant cape detailing.

The Hunger Games star also added a pair of stilettos in an attempt to decrease the significant height difference between her and Matthew, who at 6ft3in towers over her 5ft5in frame - ironically echoing their roles in The Miniature Wife.

The sci-fi romcom is based on the short story by Manuel Gonzales, examining 'power (im)balances between spouses after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis'.

The two stars play married couple Lindy and Les Littlejohn, who battle for power within their relationship until Les accidentally shrinks wife Lindy down to 6 inches tall with a miniaturization device he invented.

As well as playing the leading roles, both Matthew and Elizabeth also served as executive producers on the series.

They are joined in the cast by Zoe Lister-Jones, O-T Fagbenle, Sofia Rosinsky and Sian Clifford and the show is set to premiere on Peacock on Thursday.

The premiere of the marital dramedy comes after Matthew shared details about his own long-standing marriage to Keeley Hawes, revealing why she once threatened him with divorce.

Lats year, the couple celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary, having met in 2002 and welcomed two children Maggie, 21, and Ralph, 19, together, while Matthew is also step-dad to Keeley's son Myles, 25, from her first marriage.

However, despite their harmonious marriage, the Deadpool & Wolverine star recently admitted he was threatened with divorce from his wife when it came to Succession.

He explained he was shooting scenes for the acclaimed series in America’s Southwest when he attempted to immerse himself in the local culture.

Speaking to the Travel Secrets podcast, Matthew recalled: ‘We went to Sante Fe [in New Mexico] to the high desert. I remember ringing Keeley and saying, “Do you think I’d get away with buying cowboy boots?”'

However, he revealed that Line Of Duty star Keeley was emphatically against the idea, continuing: 'She was like, “No, if you want to stay married”,' admitting: ‘I would have looked dreadful.’

Keeley was newly married to cartoonist Spencer, and mother to baby son Myles, when she first met Matthew in 2002 on the set of Spooks.

Matthew later admitted he fell for Keeley while shooting the BBC spy drama, but clarified nothing happened between them until her split with Spencer in May 2002.

He told the Mail on Sunday in 2005: 'We weren't having an affair and it was a slow process. But I knew the effect she had on me. She's gorgeous. Everyone who meets her will tell you the same thing.'

While Keeley has also confessed to developing feelings for Matthew on the Spooks set, telling Vanity Fair in 2022: 'Matthew just came straight out with it and said "I love you" in the rain one day. I thought, "Oh dear, here we go."'

Her divorce from Spencer was finalised in 2004, and she and Matthew married later that same year in an intimate ceremony at the Richmond registry office, before welcoming first child Maggie a month later.

She recently told You Magazine in November that there was no secret to the longevity of their romance, saying they just enjoyed doing things together.

Asked how they've made it to 21 years, the Bodyguard star said: 'I don't know. We just sort of have a nice time. And also, you become more relaxed [as you get older].

'It would be weird to have a marriage where things don't go up and down occasionally in 21 years, but we're very happy. I mean, we just get on the lawnmower and… And it's as simple as that.

'You know people often ask, "What's the secret?" And really, it's just simple things. We like doing things together. That's probably the key. Because before you know it the kids are off, so you need things to do together – like travelling.'

Matthew has a number of exciting projects on the horizon, after bagging two Emmys, two BAFTAs and a Golden Globe for his role as Tom Wambsgans in hit drama Succession.

Last month, he was seen filming psychological thriller Séance on a Wet Afternoon on Hampstead Heath with Rachel Weisz and Joe Alwyn.

The film is based on the 1961 novel by Mark McShanere and a remake of the 1964 classic, with Rachel and Matthew taking over the lead roles of married couple Myra and Billy, previously played by Kim Stanley and Richard Attenborough.

And showing he is booked and busy, last week production got underway on BBC's adaptation of landmark John le Carré series Legacy of Spies, which will see Matthew playing the iconic master-spy, George Smiley.

The eight-part series also stars Charlie Hunnam and Daniel Brühl and was confirmed to have begun filming in Prague this month.

While Matthew recently won praise for his performance in Netflix's Death By Lightning as Charles Guiteau - the man who assassinated 20th United States president James A. Garfield in 1881.

The historical drama, based on Candice Millard's novel Destiny of the Republic, hit screens in November, with The Telegraph hailing Matthew as 'simply electric'.

'The Succession actor is utterly brilliant in every moment of this punchy historical miniseries,' echoed The Guardian. 'His portrayal of the crank who killed the US president in 1881 takes his mastery to the next level.'

While Financial Times said that the star's 'excellent' performance could seen him 'adding to his Emmy pile'.
