Deadpool & Wolverine is now in its tenth week of release, and it was still in the top five at the box office last weekend. But with a digital release right around the corner, Marvel's first R-rated flick is winding down its theatrical run and looking ahead to awards season. And that includes some very ambitious plans for the film's co-headliner, Hugh Jackman.

According to Variety, Marvel is planning to submit Jackman's return performance as Wolverine for consideration in the Best Supporting Actor category at the Oscars. Jackman will also be pushed for similar awards from the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Critics Choice Awards. As for the film's other headliner, Ryan Reynolds, the studio will be submitting his name for best actor in a comedy or musical with the Golden Globes.

Getting Jackman an Oscar nomination would be a coup, especially since his only prior Academy Award nod was for 2013's remake of Les Misérables. But it's likely that Deadpool & Wolverine will find more success in the Oscars' technical categories including special effects, sound design, and production design.

However, the Golden Globes appears to be the awards show that Marvel feels may be receptive for nominating Deadpool & Wolverine in non-technical categories including Best Comedy. It will also be in contention for the Golden Globes' Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. Barbie won inaugural award in that category last year.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit digital on October 1, with a Blu-ray and HD release to follow on October 22.
