There's no doubt that the Marvel's Spider-Man series does a pretty spectacular job of adapting the beloved superhero back into video game form. Spidey has enjoyed solid releases over the years across several generations of consoles, all of which culminated in his latest run out on the PlayStation 5.
We've had two Insomniac developed games in that series so far, with the studio now pivoting to a very different superhero, in the particularly brutal-looking Marvel's Wolverine. That is set to release on September 15 this year, but the news around the third Spider-Man game is a little more vague.
Now, Tom Holland, who has become most well-known for his turn as the hero across three standalone movies, has weighed in on the games, and it might lead to a trip to the studio itself.
Custom Image by Glenn BunnOver on Twitter, the user Culture Crave shared a post citing comments from Tom Holland, in which he confirmed his view that "The games are absolutely sensational." Zendaya, who appeared alongside Holland in the Spider-Man movies, and is married to him in real life, also her confirmed her love of the games at the same time.
In response, Insomniac Studios shared a post inviting the actor along to the office, saying, "Hey @TomHolland1996 and @Zendaya - if you're ever near Burbank, you're always welcome to swing by the studio to see how we make 'em! We'd love to show you around!"
While it doesn't really give us a ton of information about what is happening with the development of the next game, it does at least indicate they are working on it right now. Wolverine will very much remain the focus before launch day, but it would be nice if there was some overlap in development to make the wait for Spider-Man 3 a little more palatable.
Though they haven't given us an indication of what their plans are for the final part of the trilogy, most analysts are speculating on a 2028 release date, with motion capture and other elements of the initial recording happening now.
SonyThere's no doubt that the games are a fantastic run out for the character, and it will be very heartening to see them return whenever that may be. Spider-Man's first return, though, will be on the big screen in July, when Brand New Day releases. That will presumably be an enormous success, possibly paving the way for the game to follow after.
