Marvel is releasing a brand-new Secret Wars RPG very soon, which is perfectly timed for the upcoming Doomsday movie. This comes off the back of a string of recent Marvel products, such as the Marvel Magic: The Gathering crossover, that have performed rather well alongside the deep-dive into Marvel's Wolverine during the June PlayStation State of Play. Suffice it to say, it is a rather excellent time to be a fan of the wider Marvel universe, even if the MCU itself is floundering a little.

The aforementioned Secret Wars RPG project is perhaps a little more important than some of the most recent Marvel games, as it ties directly into both the aforementioned upcoming Doomsday movie and the Avengers: Secret Wars film. With Secret Wars getting active filming updates, a full-blown RPG based on the comic book of the same name feels incredibly relevant and a perfect jumping-on point for those eager to get completely immersed in that particular storyline outside of reading the graphic novel itself.

The critically acclaimed tabletop role-playing game, Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game, is finally getting its huge Secret Wars expansion. This Marvel project was first revealed back in 2025, with more details being shared in January 2026. Since then, fans have been waiting to hear about this exciting expansion, which not only brings the story from the comic of the same name to the TTRPG but also adds a suite of new improvements to help tell better and bigger stories within the Marvel universe.

The expansion adds the Battleworlds location from the comic, which is a huge sandbox filled with tyrannical rulers, numerous challenges for heroes to face, and a suite of possible scenarios for players to engage with. It is also attempting to introduce a plethora of new options to cater to bigger cosmic adventures, featuring characters like Galactus. Naturally, with it being a full-blown expansion, it also comes with a myriad of other additions, such as Powers, Battle Suits, Equipment, Team Maneuvers, Character Sheets, Mechanics, and so much more.

The Secret Wars expansion for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game TTRPG is set to release on August 18, 2026. More details about characters included can be found on the game's official website, and a preview event for it will be running at select local game stores on June 27, 2026, during the Free RPG Day event. If the Secret Wars expansion isn't enough, then fans can also look forward to the upcoming Spider-Man TTRPG one-shot, which adds its own selection of content to the RPG.

It is great to see Marvel so heavily invested in its critically acclaimed TTRPG and continue to release new expansions for it. Considering just how vast the Marvel universes are, there is so much potential for truly great expansions that build upon the already solid foundations of the base game and ruleset. It remains to be seen what direction Marvel will take the Multiverse RPG going forward, but, for now, at least fans can enjoy an immersive take on the legendary Secret Wars comic.
