It’s an incredibly exciting time for Marvel’s Wolverine, the upcoming action-adventure Insomniac game that takes place within Marvel’s Spider-Man’s shared continuity. First, it’s possible that we could be getting our next big look at Marvel’s Wolverine in PlayStation’s February State of Play, airing on Thursday, February 12. And second, we still don’t know every villain who will be included in the game, but an Insomniac track record suggests that more are waiting to come crawling out of the woodwork.
In the realm of comic books, Ultimate Wolverine has been pushed to 16 issues in order for it to tie into Ultimate Endgame, the climactic event that will supposedly close the curtain on Earth-6160, even though an epilogue chapter is already set to follow it. In issue #14, which just recently launched, Ultimate Wolverine debuted this universe’s Lady Deathstrike, and her haunting design will hopefully be something of an inspiration for Marvel’s Wolverine if it, too, features the villain.
Ultimate Lady Deathstrike is Horrifying
Ultimate Lady Deathstrike has a terrifying presence in Ultimate Wolverine #24. She has a slender, tall frame, is dressed almost entirely in black, and has extremely long, curved fingers. She’s described as being more machine than human, though Jean Grey is able to telepathically see how painful and tragic her childhood was in a splash of fragmented memories.
This Lady Deathstrike doesn’t say a word and is taken down swiftly. Still, it’s undoubtedly one of the simpler and scarier designs the character has ever had, and something in this same vein for Marvel’s Wolverine could be phenomenal.
Marvel’s Wolverine Has Big Shoes to Fill
As a founding member of the Reavers, it seems like it’s only natural to presume that Lady Deathstrike could be a main villain in Marvel’s Wolverine, whose primary enemy faction appears to be the Reavers’ cyborgs. Plus, it would be great to play as Wolverine, going toe-to-toe with someone who also has an adamantium-coated skeleton and could easily dish out as much damage as they can take with an accelerated regenerative healing factor of her own.
Perhaps Lady Deathstrike could be Marvel’s Wolverine’s take on Elden Ring’s Malenia, gracefully performing blade strokes and healing rapidly during the boss fight.
Either way, Marvel’s Wolverine’s Lady Deathstrike would have a high bar to clear concerning how she’s designed, with Ultimate Lady Deathstrike potentially setting that bar out of reach. Of course, only time will tell how many villains are slated to be featured in Marvel’s Wolverine, much less if Lady Deathstrike is one of them.
Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to be released for PS5 in fall 2026.
