Marvel has so many brands under its belt; it's similar to Nintendo in that it can trot out any given superhero team and try to conquer the world at any given time. It's easy to forget about lineups like the New Fantastic Four given the MCU's push for the classic team, but there have been plenty of team-ups and crossovers over the decades, leading to many great storylines.

As a whole, Marvel isn't afraid to combine multiple characters in a single narrative, especially when they're all set in the same city anyway. The MCU has complicated matters somewhat, but as they keep getting properties back under their wing like X-Men, it's inevitable that they'll keep bringing out new characters and different combinations of heroes. As was pointed out on X, the New Fantastic Four are back in a big way.

Who Are Marvel's New Fantastic Four?

Not to be confused with the classic Fantastic Four, the "New" team consists of Ghost Rider, Hulk, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, all of whom are present in Marvel Tokon, which launched this week on PC and PS5 (while Robbie Reyes is a bit of an outlier as some fans have pointed out, there is a team that consists of Robbie, X-23, Silk and Amadeus Cho, so Robbie is technically a member).

To get this combination, you'll need to skirt the team lineups in the game, as there is no "New Fantastic Four" or even a classic Fantastic Four team available in Marvel Tokon. Here are all the teams present in the game:

  • Amazing Guardians (Ms. Marvel, Peni Parker, Spider-Man, Star-Lord)
  • Fighting Avengers (Black Panther [Shuri], Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man
  • Knights of Doom (Carnage, Doctor DOom, Green Goblin, Magneto)
  • Samurai Outriders (Blade, Ghost Rider, Deadpool, Loki Laufeyson)
  • Unbreakable X-Men (Danger, Storm, Magik, Wolverine)

Phoenix Cyclops is also on the way as the first Season 1 DLC character, with more to come. Expect him to sport his classic optic shenanigans, bolstered by the power of the Phoenix Force.

It's Great To See The Band Back Together

Fans are voicing their appreciation for the inclusion of the team, even if it wasn't done in a traditional way: "Bummed me so much that the team does not get the name in the game. Hope that when the original [Fantastic Four] enter the game we could get the correct name for this team too."

Only time will tell what DLC will be implemented by developer Arc System Works and publisher Sony, but the entire scope of the classic Fantastic Four seems like a safe bet. Since each team consists of four people, they could slot in quickly and form their own team in any given season pass.

So far, Marvel Tokon has had a positive reception on PS5, while some fans are concerned about the current state of the PC port. Arc System Works seems in it for the long haul, announcing multiple season passes are on the way, so we could see years of support ahead of us. If the kinks are worked out, many more teams like the New Fantastic Four could be assembled by players with little effort.
