Marvel Comics’ Ghost Rider has taken a few different hosts over the years, with Danny Ketch's version of the character once getting a visual upgrade that saw him swap out his usual hellfire-engulfed skull for a blue-tinged set of flames, giving him an even more badass look than usual. Leaning into this unique design, the cosplay community has given Danny Ketch’s Ghost Rider a proper blue-flamed makeover, one that proves this take on the Spirit of Vengeance needs to make a return.

A rare cosplay shared on social media via Instagram and created and worn by Shawn T. Andrew (@shawnshonuff), this isn’t the first time Shawn has dressed as the adrenaline junkie that is Ghost Rider, with Johnny Blaze being only one of the hosts Shawn has previously embodied.

Wearing a newly streamlined take on a previously worn iteration of Danny Ketch’s Blue Ghost Rider, Shawn has also developed other live-action Ghost Rider designs, with his Robbie Reyes-inspired look and red-flamed Ghost Rider variant being a pair of real-world outfits that do justice to the character’s long and storied comic book history.

Danny Ketch’s Blue Ghost Rider Makes a Triumphant Live-Action Debut in New Cosplay

Making his cerulean-hued debut in 2008’s Ghost Rider: Danny Ketch, by Simon Spurrier and Javier Saltares, this “Blue Ghost Rider” came about after a severely depressed and de-powered Danny Ketch sought to regain control over the Spirit of Vengeance by making a deal with the angel Zadkiel, with the results being far more than what Danny bargained for. Gradually receiving more and more power, Danny was nearly driven insane, with his familiar yet unique Ghost Rider outfit fitting right in with the superhero look Johnny Blaze originated, making this cosplay a deep-cut fan-favorite design that Shawn pulls off effortlessly.

Marvel Teases A Ghost Rider Secret So Shocking, It's Going To Reshape The Character's Entire History

The dark secret of the Ghost Rider’s true origin lies hidden deep within the depths of lost Atlantis, with subtle ties to the Elder God Chthon.

Photographed during this year’s New York Comic Con, Shawn’s Blue Ghost Rider is a masterclass in bringing a difficult-to-adapt comic character into the real world without losing anything in the transition. Holding a smoldering ball of blue fire, it’s Shawn’s oversized skull and spike-covered shoulder pads, glowing eyes, head of flames, and fire-branded leather jacket and pants that help sell this look, proving that Johnny Blaze isn’t the only Ghost Rider deserving of a live-action design, with Shawn’s commitment to Danny Ketch’s badass nature coming across in each new picture, especially the ones where he poses alongside other talented cosplayers.

Ghost Rider’s Blue Form Needs an Official MCU Adaptation After Seeing This Cosplay

This blue iteration of Ghost Rider is exclusive to Danny Ketch, showing that not only can he work in live-action, but with the MCU technically not having its own Ghost Rider currently (the MCU-adjacent Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show introduced Robbie Reyes in its fourth season), there is no time like the present to give yet another version of Ghost Rider his rightful dues. Danny Ketch’s Ghost Rider is a fiery hero who punishes those he deems unworthy, and after seeing this homemade design, it’s clear he deserves more recognition in the cosplay space and beyond.
