Avengers: Doomsday, Disney's scorching-hot new entry from directors Anthony and Joe Russo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is only a few short months away from its debut on the silver screen — which makes it even more shocking that we've yet to see a full trailer for the movie, only a bunch of (admittedly very exciting) teasers.
Yet the lack of a full trailer hasn't put Disney off ticket sales. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company plans to release premium-format tickets for Doomsday next week on July 20.
Disney plans to make tickets available for purchase for Infinity Vision theaters, a premium large-format experience featuring larger screens with enhanced sound and visuals. Disney created the Infinity Vision brand after Warner Bros. secured IMAX theaters for Dune Part 3 — a catastrophe for the Marvel franchise, as both films are set for release on December 18. Who will win that particular fight — Infinity Vision or IMAX — remains to be seen.
Marvel's Avengers: Endgame Encore (a re-release of Endgame) and Doomsday will be the first movies to play under this new certification, though Infinity Vision's official website clarifies that more movies to play in Infinity Vision theaters are on the way.
In addition to the early ticket sales, there's more news for Avengers fans. The runtime of the film has been confirmed at 165 minutes, a little short of three hours. But don't get too excited just yet: there's a good chance the final runtime will change by the time December 18 arrives.
Image: Marvel StudiosIt is reported that the sale will launch a few days before Marvel's presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, scheduled for July 25. While we expect plenty of new and exciting announcements during the event, fans speculate that the first full trailer for Doomsday will finally be revealed there. With several superheroes from multiple teams coming together to stop Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, let's keep our fingers crossed that the trailer will be as epic as Doomsday's concept, which the Russo Brothers declared will bring the MCU "back to phase zero."
