Mr. Fantastic alongside The Invisible Woman in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals wants to help players celebrate the month of love but its latest cosmetic bundle is causing frustration within the game's massive community. Highlighting the latest additions to the roster of characters, Marvel Rivals continues to spotlight Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman by releasing a couple of new skins dedicated to the couple's 60th wedding anniversary. While that's undoubtedly exciting for long-time fans of the Fantastic Four, the event's strict conditions have made acquiring the bundle very difficult for most.

Per a post on X (formerly Twitter), Marvel Rivals revealed the glamorous bundle, which puts Reed and Sue in a tuxedo and a wedding dress, respectively, and announced that players who want to own the cosmetics for free will need to join a Quick Play match with one of a handful of streamers. By joining a specific server at a certain time, users stand a chance of playing with one of four streamers, including big names like Necros and DEME, meaning the odds of actually acquiring the skins are incredibly low. At the time of writing, two remaining opportunities remain:

  • On the Frankfurt server, February 13, between 11 am and 1 pm EST.
  • On the Tokyo server, February 14 between 6 am and 8 am EST.

Marvel Rivals Fans Love The Skins But Not The Competition

Not An Ideal Valentine's Day

While most players have expressed praise for Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman's new skins, noting their distinct style and solid theming, others are disappointed by the structure of the event. The server-based nature of the competition means that players in only three regions have a chance at winning the bundle; those outside of the specified regions can switch servers but they'll be forced to play Marvel Rivals with extremely high ping. X user zoharaim also notes that it may cause players to leave games early, resulting in a frustrating experience for the rest of the team.

Fortunately, players who are unable to join the event will still be able to pick up the bundle when it enters the Marvel Rivals shop on February 13. Of course, it will be a full-price cosmetic pack so the only way to grab it up for free is to get lucky and hopefully match with the necessary streamers. Whether developer NetEase responds to feedback regarding the nature of the competition remains to be seen.

I Understand The Frustration With The Fantastic Four Skins

Especially As Someone Who Lived At The Bottom Of The World

While I understand that players can simply change the server they're playing on, doing so always comes at the cost of bandwidth. Having spent most of my life outside the three regions specified in Marvel Rivals' giveaway, it is frustrating to once again see many users left out in the cold. It's a pity, especially since Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman's new skins are genuinely excellent.
