A new game mode just launched within Marvel Rivals, and while it was initially exciting and fresh, fans are becoming frustrated with Star-Lord seemingly owning every match. The Dancing Lions game mode is very similar to Rocket League, where players need to go head-to-head to score the most goals in a short period of time. Fighting for the ball and stopping the opposition from scoring a goal is the aim of the game, but it seems that's easier said than done thanks to Star-Lord being able to fly across the entire map.
Star-Lord is known for his flying abilities in regular matches, being able to avoid enemies attacking him by flying all around the point. Fans have taken to Reddit to discuss how his toolkit is a bit "broken" in the Dancing Lions game mode, as some players just sit idly by and watch while he scores goal after goal. In a recent post from njnia on Reddit, Star-Lord can be seen zipping through the sky, high above everyone, and scoring a goal.
While most players are a bit upset with the fact that this is possible, others mention how standing and watching is not going to win the match, and there are ways to stop this from happening in Marvel Rivals.
Star-Lord Is Taking Over The New Game Mode In Marvel Rivals
There Might Be A Bit Of An Exploit In The Dancing Lions Game Mode
The new game mode was just introduced a little over a day ago, alongside a few new hero costumes and events to complete to earn rewards. While, initially, the Spring Festival event was new and exciting to fans, it quickly became imbalanced and seemingly unfair thanks to Star-Lord's toolkit. Though it is not technically an exploit, the short video on the Reddit thread shows Star-Lord zooming into the goal without anyone being able to stop him due to his ability to fly.

Commenters discuss the issue with the new mode, as rileyvace states, "So the mode is essentially "Star-Lord containment strategies"? Seems like a pretty fast way of making the new mode boring and one dimensional." They go on to state that even though this move is preventable, the developers should have done more to stop it from being possible in the first place. Others don't seem to share this sentiment, as TomVinPrice says, "Lotta people complaining don’t understand how to play the 3 characters in this mode." This comment highlights the fact that players can counter Star-Lord in the game mode, they just are not used to using the hero's toolkit they are forced to use.
You Can Counter Star-Lord In The Dancing Lions Game Mode, It's Just Tedious
Don't Be Afraid To Fight Fire With Fire
While this move by Star-Lord players can be annoying for some, there are ways to counter him and prevent this. As one commenter mentions on Reddit, sometimes you have to "out-cheese" the "cheese", and that is the case here. Iron Fist can use his jump to get around the same height as Star-Lord and punch the ball right out of his hands. Black Widow does not have her jump dash in this mode, making her slightly less effective if this happens.
As for the Star-Lord on the other team dealing with this "exploit", they can simply fly to his level, and use their Blaster Barrage ability to knock the ball down and stop Star-Lord's reign of terror. While this issue might be tedious and discouraging for some, he can be countered in quite a few ways to stop him from just scoring goals over and over. Hopefully, NetEase sees these issues and implements fixes for them in future Marvel Rivals events.
