Some Marvel Rivals fans think that being stuck within the ranks is the player's fault, but others think it really comes down to the luck of the draw. Competitive play in Rivals is difficult, as climbing the ranks while solo queuing is tedious, slow-going, and sometimes blood-boiling. Fans are torn between it being a numbers game and the fault of the player playing the matches.
A recent Reddit post from AKM1711 sparked a massive conversation about whose fault it truly is for being stuck within the Bronze and Silver ranks in Rivals. Fans seem to be under the impression that there really is no way to tell how a match will go, regardless of how well they play, as players are at the mercy of their teammates.
Some Think It's "Your Fault" For Being Stuck In A Rank In Marvel Rivals
But Fans Think If The Others Aren't Playing Their Best, You're Out Of Luck
The Reddit thread has gotten a lot of attention, as ranked matches are tedious and some do not believe it is solely their fault for being stuck within a specific rank. ExtremelyDecentWill comments, "I've got 8 hours in the season and I just hit Gold, and for me it seems like every match is either Stomp or be Stomped." Several other users chimed in and agreed with this comment, as commenter lucavigno says, "Yeah same, sometime my team get absolutely dogged other time we destroy the enemy team, rarely there's a match that is a good match."

"Nobody Wants To Tank": Marvel Rivals Fans Claim Vanguard Mains Are Few & Far Between, Asking NetEase To Prioritize Tanks
Fans of Marvel Rivals are noticing a trend when it comes to matches, as players seem to want to DPS or Heal rather than tank, causing a bit of chaos.
The vast majority of comments disagree with the original post that claims it is their fault for being stuck, as some believe that each match has players who just don't give it their best shot or are not as good as the other teammates. Others say it isn't about being "stuck" per se, but it is a slow and extremely monotonous climb to the higher ranks.
Our Take: It's A Numbers Game In Marvel Rivals Ranked Play
Well, You Can't Expect To Win Them All
As someone who only plays ranked in Marvel Rivals with more hours in the game than I wish to admit, it truly does feel like a numbers game. There are games where you will do everything you can, play aggressively even as a support, and still end up with a loss. If you play tank, you are at the mercy of your healers to hold the line and create space. Without good heals to avoid death, you will not last long in a fight. This doesn't mean only depending on healers either, as players should play defensively and carefully regardless of healers and DPS.
It is a slow climb to the top, and being stuck in a rank does not mean it is entirely your fault. There are cases, though, where if you choose to only play one character and not flex to help the team, you will be to blame for the losses. Realistically, a role-queue could stop a few of these issues, but NetEase is not budging on that decision at the time of writing. All in all, Marvel Rivals is a tough game sometimes, and being "stuck" in a rank is just part of it.
