Warning! Spoilers ahead for Uncanny X-Men #7!
Marvel just unveiled the newest X-Men villain, and he’s not only horrifying, but he also just proved he can take on both Cyclops and Rogue’s teams simultaneously, all while remaining hidden. The stakes have never been higher as the X-Men attempt to break their superhero friends from Graymalkin Prison and are forced to face this terrifying new foe, who shows signs of being an Omega-level telepath.
In Uncanny X-Men #7 – written by Gail Simone, with art by Edgar Salazar and David Marquez – during the battle in Graymalkin prison, Kid Omega tries to warn Cyclops that there’s something hidden in the prison watching them when a sonic weapon takes him out. Warden Ellis gives orders to Phillip Scurvy to telepathically provoke the heroes, and it is horrifyingly revealed Scurvy has been hiding in the dark watching the X-Men.
Dr. Corina Ellis has been throwing massive hurdles at the X-Men, like wolf Sentinels, and other mutants, but Scurvy is shown to be by far the most dangerous.
The X-Men Franchise's Newest Deadly Antagonist Is The Mastermind Behind Rogue And Cyclops’ Fight

Rogue and Cyclops are both on a rescue mission to save their teammates, but Rogue notes that, seemingly for no reason, the X-Men are becoming increasingly aggravated with one another and this comes to a head when one of the new members, Ransom, punches Cyclops. The feud between Rogue and Cyclops has been for the most part questionable, but now Scurvy’s behind-the-scenes manipulation being the reasoning behind the X-Men coming to blows makes total sense. While there is still a clear moral divide between Rogue and Cyclops, Scurvy’s telepathic abilities heighten the X-Men’s emotions to a dangerously aggressive level.
Rogue’s brash and inexperienced new recruits, combined with Cyclops’ powerful team of heavy hitters, present a scary combination under Scurvy’s sinister influence.
Scurvy is presented as a weak and brittle old man, but there’s a very good reason Warden Ellis is keeping him as an ally, and it’s apparent his appearance is misleading. Scurvy could very well be the X-Men’s next Omega-level telepathic villain, as he’s able to manipulate a massive group of mutants into fighting each other all while he remains at an unknown location. Rogue’s brash and inexperienced new recruits, combined with Cyclops’ powerful team of heavy hitters, present a scary combination under Scurvy’s sinister influence.
Marvel's New Telepathic Villain Is An Ominous Threat, Making The X-Men A Danger To Themselves
The X-Men’s Worst Nightmare
Even if Philip Scurvy has not maximized his telepathic powers to that of an Omega-level mutant, he remains a massive problem for both Rogue and Cyclops’ X-Men as he provokes them further into turmoil while remaining in the shadows. Graymalkin Prison warden Ellis has shown she’s willing to inflict truly gruesome and brutal actions against mutants, so it’s highly likely that there is much more to Scurvy’s powers than simple telepathic manipulation. When the X-Men encounter Scurvy again, they’ll not only be in danger, but they’ll become a danger to themselves.
