The MCU already has the ideal project for Wonder Man to return after the disappointing cancellation of Wonder Man season 2. Marvel Studios' Wonder Man finally brought Simon Williams into the MCU timeline, giving one of Marvel's oldest heroes a chance to shine. The series established Simon as a superpowered actor navigating fame, responsibility, and life in a world increasingly shaped by superheroes.

That made the news of Wonder Man's season 2 cancellation particularly disappointing. It seemed the show was laying the groundwork for a character poised to play a larger role in the MCU. Simon's powers, relationships, and unique perspective all suggested there was plenty more story to tell.

Fortunately, a canceled Disney+ series doesn't necessarily mean the end of a Marvel character. The MCU has a long history of moving heroes between movies and television projects, often giving them even bigger roles elsewhere.

In fact, Marvel may already have the perfect place for Simon Williams to return. Recent developments have created a natural path for the character to reappear, one that would allow Marvel to continue his story while connecting him to one of the franchise's most anticipated future releases. Better still, it would build on ideas already introduced in Wonder Man rather than forcing the character into an unrelated storyline.

Wonder Man Should Return In The MCU's X-Men Reboot

The upcoming X-Men reboot feels like the ideal project to bring Simon Williams back. One of the biggest revelations in Wonder Man was the suggestion that Simon is a mutant in the MCU. If Marvel follows through on that idea, he immediately becomes relevant to the franchise's mutant future. Rather than requiring a separate explanation for his return, the X-Men reboot could naturally continue his story.

The timing is also perfect because the MCU has spent years establishing the Department of Damage Control as a growing threat to enhanced individuals. Recent projects have increasingly positioned the organization as a force willing to detain and monitor people with extraordinary abilities. Many expect Damage Control to become a major antagonist when mutants arrive in force.

That would give Simon a clear reason to get involved. He wouldn't need to become a permanent member of the X-Men, but helping them fight back against Damage Control would make sense and provide an easy route for his return.

There's also his friendship with Beast. In Marvel Comics, Wonder Man and Beast have one of the publisher's most enduring friendships, developed through years of adventures together. If Beast plays a major role in the MCU's mutant future, Simon already has a natural connection to the story. Using Wonder Man in the X-Men reboot would allow Marvel to bring back the character while strengthening the MCU's growing mutant corner.

Wonder Man Still Deserves To Be A Big Part Of The MCU's Future

The cancellation of Wonder Man season 2 doesn't change the fact that Simon Williams has enormous potential. Part of what made the series stand out was how different Simon felt from many MCU heroes. He wasn't a billionaire, spy, or cosmic adventurer. He was an actor trying to balance celebrity life with extraordinary powers, giving him a perspective few Marvel characters share.

His abilities also make him valuable moving forward. Wonder Man is traditionally one of Marvel's most powerful heroes, capable of standing alongside heavy hitters from both the Avengers and X-Men corners of the universe. Just as importantly, Simon has connections across Marvel lore.

He's associated with the Avengers, closely linked to Beast, and now potentially connected to the MCU's mutant future. Few characters can move so easily between multiple franchises. That's why retiring Wonder Man after a single season would feel like a waste. The show may be over, but Wonder Man still has plenty to offer the MCU, and the X-Men reboot could be the perfect place to prove it.
