Hayley Vernon has announced that she is seeking therapy to heal herself from the 'sexual trauma' she has suffered.

The former reality star, who appeared on the seventh season of Married At First Sight in 2020, went on to work in the adult entertainment industry.

The 39-year-old previously made thousands of dollars a week as a high-class escort, as well as bringing in AUD $90,000 within the first month of joining the subscription website OnlyFans.

In a post on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, Hayley said she has now realised she needs help.

'Yesterday I took a step and started therapy, specifically around sexualised trauma that I'm finding is raising its head in different areas of my life,' she wrote.

'When I was speaking to the therapist, we talked about why I chose now to come and see her. I told her that for most of my life I've felt like I've had to do life alone,' she continued.

'I've never really been able to trust that people won't hurt me, leave me, or use what I say against me. Unfortunately, that's been a common thread throughout my life.'

Hayley then explained how finding religion has led her to change her path in life.

'I went on to tell her that over the last two and a half years, the Lord has strategically placed safe people in and around my life to show me that those people do exist. That I don't have to do life alone. That healthy relationships and healthy connections are actually possible,' she said.

'The blueprint I've operated from for most of my life was etched in a way that made unhealthy situations feel familiar. So when I'm treated well, supported, or cared for, I sometimes don't know how to act or what to do with it.'

She added: 'I'm thankful for the people who have sat and listened, allowing me to talk through years of being used, years of abusive situations, and in general, the pretty crazy life I've lived.

'I want to live a soft life as the person God has peeled me back to reveal - the person I was always meant to be. In order to do that, I need to let my safe people in and allow myself to be fully who I am.

'I'm sharing this because it's not weak to speak.'

Hayley has been working hard to turn her life around since she exited the adult industry in April 2024.

At the time, the reality TV star announced her resignation from OnlyFans in an emotional Instagram Story video.

During the lengthy clip, Hayley branded the sex industry as 'soul-destroying' and said she would be 'ceasing all adult work', effective immediately.

'It just feels like a big breath out for me,' the bodybuilder said.

'I will not be filming any more videos. I think I have about nine, ten releases left. I will not be engaging or soliciting myself anymore.

'Or giving any of my being to anyone further than what I have done,' she continued.

Hayley admitted that being an adult entertainer was 'so far removed' from her real identity, adding that the industry had brought 'so much negativity' into her life over the years.

'I was suffering from severe anxiety, I wasn't certain of who I was because I was trying to be someone different. I've just made the decision that it does not serve myself. It's soul-destroying, I'm just going to say it,' she lamented.

'And I know that a lot of people are going to be like, 'You're a hypocrite'... But I was merely supposed to pass through this stage of my life. I was never supposed to sit in it,' she added.

Hayley rose to fame on season seven of Married At First Sight in 2020, where she was paired with truck driver David Cannon (right)

Hayley explained she only entered the industry out of desperation.

'I got into it because I needed money during Covid, and I said to myself that I would get XYZ, and then I'd be out. And then I got greedy,' she confessed.

'I have never felt so free and so light in my heart since making the decision to get out of the industry,' she went on.

Since then, Hayley underwent a baptism and has dedicated herself to spreading the word of Christianity.

She also revealed earlier this year that she is making a career pivot into the healthcare industry.

'Just enrolled in nursing. You're never too old to start or do something new,' Hayley posted on social media.
