Married At First Sight star Bec Zacharia reveals her plans for a face 'nip/tuck' after controversial 'Barbie waist' procedure - and why she will never be friends with Gia Fleur again

Married At First Sight's Bec Zacharia is preparing to get more cosmetic work done after undergoing a controversial 'Barbie waist' rib contouring procedure in Bali last month. 

Bec, 36, revealed she has set her sights on a facial 'nip/tuck', Botox, filler and further skin treatments as part of a dramatic head-to-toe transformation following significant weight loss.

Speaking on Daily Mail Australia's MAFS Unleashed podcast, Bec also addressed the fierce backlash surrounding her Bali procedure - and insisted she did not go under the knife. 

'It's not rib removal, it's rib contouring,' she said.

Bec said the technique involved altering her lower floating ribs and wearing a tightly fitted corset during recovery.

She claimed doctors used a small needle and ultrasonic technology, with no incisions, and said she had taken paracetamol for just four days afterwards. 

'It essentially kind of fractures the lower floating ribs,' she explained, describing her understanding of the procedure.

'They've kind of ultrasonically fractured them a little bit and they've moved them in, and then you wear the corset.'

Bec said she wears the garment for almost the entire day and expected to do so for 12 weeks in total.

'I've probably got it on for 23 hours and 20 minutes a day,' she said.

The former bride said the surgery attracted far more attention than she anticipated, with her story spreading to breakfast television, radio and social media.

'I never thought that it would go as viral and as intense as it did,' she said.

'I was nervous about it, so I went, I was excited, then I got nervous, I stopped [and] I talked to other surgeons around Australia.'

'Then I made an informed decision and decided to get it done, and I couldn't be happier. I'm ecstatic with my results.' 

Bec said the operation formed part of a much broader head-to-toe transformation after substantial weight loss - and revealed she is also planning more work on her face.

She said the idea was partly inspired by a friend who starred on Below Deck, who encouraged her to 'invest' in herself after MAFS.

'She was like, 'If you look the best that you've ever looked, you feel the best you've ever looked. More opportunities come your way,' Bec recalled.

'I thought to myself, there's so many parts of me that I love and there's so many parts of me that I hate.'

While Bec insisted she had no intention of making herself unrecognisable, she openly admitted she wanted several cosmetic tweaks.

'I'm not going to completely change the way I look, but I'm definitely going to have a little nip/tuck here,' she said.

'I've had my ribs done.'

The reality star also revealed she had planned to receive fresh Botox and facial filler immediately before this interview, but was forced to postpone the appointment when she could not see her regular injector. 

'I was meant to get Botox and my filler yesterday, but I couldn't see my injector, so I'm a little bit wrinkly at the moment,' she joked.

'I just want to feel and look the best I've ever looked, and I think I owe it to myself.'

Bec explained that her transformation was not simply about chasing online attention, but addressing the changes left by her significant weight loss.

'People forget that I was a big girl. I have lost a lot of weight,' she said.

'There are elements to my body that someone who's been fit their whole life doesn't have - loose skin and wibbly bits here and there.'

She said she was now embarking on a 'skin journey' alongside the rib procedure and facial injectables, although she did not specify what additional treatments that would involve.

'I've worked so hard to lose the weight, so why not?' she said.

'There are so many influencers... who have had so much work done and they've never told a soul. Then these young girls think they're just not as beautiful as these people.' 

Bec vowed that she would disclose the procedures she undergoes, arguing that influencers have a responsibility not to pass off cosmetically enhanced results as natural.

'The reality is that I'm always going to be honest and transparent about it,' she said.

'I'm just going to go on this journey and be transparent as much as possible.'

'I'm going to do what is authentic to me and what I think is the right thing - and that's going to be completely and utterly transparent about everything I get done.'

Elsewhere in the interview, Bec explained why she declined an offer to reunite with her former close friend Gia for MAFS Unleashed.

The pair had exchanged cordial private messages after Bec publicly congratulated Gia on her pregnancy, but Bec said she was unhappy when their apparent truce was promoted on TikTok as 'the war is over'.

'Two people can agree to have respect for one another,' Bec said.

'I can have respect for her and keep a boundary of: we will never be friends, you will never sit at my table, but I wish you well.'

Bec confirmed the women had once been genuine friends, but said their personalities were ultimately incompatible.

'We just don't match up as friends, which sucks, but every single person on the show doesn't have to be your friend,' she said.

She nevertheless insisted she was pleased Gia had found happiness with boyfriend Alan Wallace and was expecting a child with him.

'When she met Alan, she told me, 'This is my husband. This is the man that I'm going to be with,' Bec recalled.

'Now she's pregnant with the man that she loves, and I couldn't be happier for her.'

'I'm happy for her at a distance. I want all the success for her, but I'm just not going to be around to see it.'

Bec and Gia later attended the same birthday party but kept their distance, with Bec saying she deliberately chose not to cause a scene.

'I just stayed in my lane, did my own thing and partied with my friends,' she said.

'You stay on your side, I'll stay on my side, and let's just be respectful about it.'
