Married At First Sight season 18’s experts have been called out for their refusal to help Emem Obot with her difficult marriage to Ikechi Ojoré, proving they aren’t fit to continue on the show as it stands. Emem and Ikechi, just one of the couples who have been matched up on Married At First Sight season 18, have been experiencing difficulties in their relationship throughout the experiment. While many have been able to find solace in the MAFS experts, comprised of Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Pia Holec, and Pastor Cal Roberson, they haven’t been helpful to Emem and Ikechi yet.
In a recent episode, Ikechi and Emem sat down with Pastor Cal and Dr. Pia to discuss their difficulties after Ikechi disappeared after a heated argument at the couples’ anniversary dinner. While Ikechi has been the more irrational, difficult side of the relationship, the MAFS experts didn’t try to work with Emem surrounding her issues, but instead tried to make her part of the problem. Reddit users weren’t comfortable with the experts’ behavior, like u/sprinksb, who explained the experts are “not only facilitating [Ikechi’s troubling relationship], but encouraging it, all for the sake of a paycheck and TV show.”
What The MAFS Experts Refusal To Help Means For Emem & Ikechi’s Relationship
They’re Allowing The Relationship To Take Its Natural Course
Ikechi and Emem’s relationship has been difficult from the beginning of Married At First Sight season 18, but the behavior Ikechi has exhibited in the most recent episodes of the series has been abhorrent to Emem. While he’s tried to make it seem like he’s suffering, Ikechi’s behavior has been brutal toward Emem throughout the run of the season, as he’s tried to make it seem like she’s aggressive toward him when he’s simply uninterested in Emem’s personality. Throughout the season, Ikechi has made it clear he doesn’t like how independent Emem is because he can’t control her himself.

Ikechi choosing to lash out at Emem in public and in front of the MAFS experts has made it obvious that he’s been trying to make her look like the villain of their relationship. With the experts refusing to see Ikechi’s responsibility in disturbing his relationship with Emem and instead blaming her for being too difficult for him to manage, they made it clear that they don’t understand the scope of the problem. The experts were too busy trying to be impartial to see the way Ikechi was treating Emem, making it clear they aren’t fit to help at all.
Our Take The MAFS Experts Refusal To Help The Couples
They’re Actually Allowing Emem To Stay In A Problematic Situation
After Ikechi and Emem’s recent meeting with the Married At First Sight experts that led to them blaming Emem for Ikechi’s disappearance and poor behavior, it’s clear that the experts aren’t able to help the couples through their issues. The experts refusing to work with the couples in a productive way is something that’s been common throughout the last seasons of the series, but seeing it happen in Emem and Ikechi’s case has been odd. The Married At First Sight experts are being willfully ignorant toward Emem being stuck in a troubling marriage with someone difficult like Ikechi.
Married At First Sight airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
