Married At First Sight Season 18: I've Noticed Madison Myers Is Contradictory (She Is A Problematic Casting Choice)

3 days ago 4

Married At First Sight star Madison Myers has been contradictory in the way she’s talked about her potential partner to the MAFS experts and the cameras about her actual MAFS groom, Allen Slovick, and I’m concerned she may have been a poor casting choice. Though Married At First Sight season 18 is just getting started, Madison and Allen have been one of the most buzzed-about couples of the season thus far. Both joined the cast of MAFS in hopes that they’d be able to find someone who they could spend their lives with, but things may be headed south quickly.

Despite the fact that Madison, a 29-year-old Colorado native who’s living in Chicago, has been single for the last few years, it appears that she has a lot she’s looking for in a partner. While she was clear with the experts that she wanted someone who would align with her values and understand her at her core, Madison was quickly sketched out in her marriage to Allen. Though Allen, a 35-year-old who’s ready to find someone special, has been genuine with his feelings toward Madison, she’s been struggling to connect with him in the same way he’s been able to.

Though Madison and Allen seem to have a decent connection thus far, I’ve been noticing the way that Madison speaks about her Married At First Sight husband. Madison’s behavior throughout her wedding ceremony and during the reception was difficult in a lot of ways. While the MAFS cast is supposed to be open about any regret they may be feeling or hesitation surrounding their partner that could be cropping up, it’s clear that Madison’s feelings about Allen aren’t necessarily aligned with the good-natured persona she’s been projecting. Instead, she’s feeling some darker emotions that come from a more difficult place.

It’s possible that she’ll reject him for not being what she expected.

Although there hasn’t been much on Madison and Allen yet on Married At First Sight season 18, what viewers have been shown is an interesting mix of chemistry and tension. Madison and Allen are attracted to one another, and Madison herself even commented on the chemistry she’s been sharing with her new husband. Explaining during their wedding photoshoot that she felt a sense of chemistry with Allen, she then revealed that he wasn’t her typical type. Madison clearly felt a closeness to Allen despite the fact that he wasn’t the athletic, gym-bodied type of man she’d usually choose for herself.

Although Madison has been open about the fact that she finds Allen attractive, there are issues with the relationship at their foundation because of the way Madison perceives the experiment. While Madison has been open about the fact that she finds Allen attractive, she’s still stuck on the type of man she’s been attracted to in the past. Madison’s time on Married At First Sight was meant to see her being more open to things she wouldn’t have gone for in the real world, but her fixation on Allen not being her type has been tough for viewers to stomach.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Though Madison has been clear that Allen is someone that she likes, she’s been sharing digs about his appearance disguised as jokes, like making fun of his kitschy underwear. While Madison is welcome to having issues with her MAFS groom, it’s clear that she has some underlying issues she needs to address about who she thinks she should be with. Madison clearly has a connection to Allen, but it’s obvious she’s feeling like she should be with someone who’s more up to her typical “standard”, which is making her contradict herself frequently in Married At First Sight season 18 episodes.

Madison Is Coming Off Conceited

She’s Trying To Play The Behavior Off

Although Madison comes off as contradictory when she talks about Allen, she also seems like she’s a bit conceited when she talks about herself and her appearance. Though there will likely be more about Madison’s backstory on Married At First Sight as things continue that will give viewers insight into what’s happening in her head when she talks to others, it’s obvious she cares about her looks as she’s moved through her wedding with Allen. When talking to his friends during their reception, Madison explained that she hadn’t always been so beautiful, stating several times that she was beautiful now.

Madison’s focus on her looks has been difficult for Married At First Sight viewers to swallow, especially when it’s in conjunction with the fact that Allen has been described as someone outside of her typical physical type. Madison could have some self-esteem issues or could be hyper-fixated on what other people think about her. In contrast, she could also be dealing with some issues of perspective that have to do with her first-ever appearance on TV, but it seems to me like she’s simply too interested in how others think about her, which pushes her to focus on her looks.

MAFS Season 18 Casting Has Done A Disservice

Allen Deserves Better Than Madison’s Behavior

Although Madison and Allen could be a good match, the way that Madison has been treating both herself and Allen after their wedding has been a bit of a red flag. I think Madison could grow her self-confidence throughout the season, but generally, I don’t like to see Married At First Sight participants who aren’t prepared for the hurdle of seeing their new partner for the first time. While many are thinking about what their partner will look like, knowing that Madison seemed to have an idea of who Allen would be and found herself disappointed was tough to see.

Madison’s casting is difficult to swallow because while she seems like she’s ready for the experience on paper, hearing her talk about Married At First Sight proves she’s not prepared for the stress that the experiment will bring. If she’s already hesitant about Allen and the way he’s presenting to her, it doesn’t feel like a safe bet to assume that she’ll continue to develop strong feelings of negativity about him throughout the season. Though we’d all love to see her accept Allen throughout Married At First Sight, it’s possible that she’ll reject him for not being what she expected.

Married At First Sight airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
