While there have been glimmers of hope in several of the couples on Married At First Sight in the past few seasons, there hasn’t been a successful couple that lasted past Decision Day since MAFS season 16. Before that, there hadn’t been a couple that stuck together since MAFS season 12, which means that in the last six seasons, 28 of 30 couples matched together haven’t worked out. Despite knowing that there have been issues with their matchmaking, the MAFS experts haven’t been taking outward accountability for their low success rate, making it clear they don’t care for their participants.

While Married At First Sight season 12’s Vincent Morales and Briana Myles weren’t certain that their relationship would last throughout their time on the experiment, they chose to stay married after Decision Day and are still together today. The couple are happily married and welcomed their first child in 2024. The other recent success the show has created is MAFS season 16’s Nicole Woley and Chris Thielk, who were matched well and found themselves happily moving through the experiment. While they’ve made two successful matches, the rest of the MAFS couples in the last six seasons have failed.

The Married At First Sight expert panel, comprised of Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Pia Holec, and Pastor Cal Roberson, hasn’t been open about what they’ve been seeing regarding their failure rate on the show. MAFS viewers are looking for reasons as to why the couples haven’t worked well, while the experts have been quiet surrounding what they’re seeing from the inside when couples struggle.

Although MAFS has seen the lowest success rates in years, they haven’t replaced any of the experts on the series. While viewers have been hopeful that the experts will be removed, replaced, or have an explanation for the lack of matches, there’s been no movement from the MAFS side of things. While MAFS’ current couples are still working to figure out if they can create lasting relationships, it appears that there are some fundamental issues in their marriages that the experts could’ve foreseen. The experts lack of care is proven through the lackluster matches on Married At First Sight.

Based on the Danish version of the series, Married at First Sight is a reality show/social experiment that gives singles a chance to find a lifelong partnership with one particular caveat: they must agree to marry a stranger arranged the moment they meet. Experts provide counseling and guidance as they help couples navigate their new marriage with their unknown partner and highlight the journey of the newlyweds from wedding to honeymoon to beginning their new lives together. At the end of eight weeks, couples will decide to stay married or divorce.
