Ellie Dix has spoken for the first time about the heartbreaking miscarriage she kept hidden from the public as she and husband-to-be Jono McCullough prepare to become parents.

The Married At First Sight stars are expecting their first child together, with their little one due to arrive on April 4, 2027.

But behind their joyous pregnancy announcement, shared on October 19, lies a difficult year that saw the couple seek fertility treatment before suffering a devastating miscarriage.

Ellie, who met Jono on the 11th season of MAFS three years ago, revealed the loss in an interview with New Idea, explaining that she discovered she had a low egg count and needed help from fertility specialists to conceive.

The pregnancy ended when she was around eight to 10 weeks along, leaving the couple to grapple with a loss they had barely had time to process.

'That's when we realised, 'Oh my God, we really do want children'. It was just devastating,' she recalled.

Describing the ordeal as a 'really lonely time', Ellie told the publication that she kept the miscarriage a secret from her friends and family for some time before finally sharing the news.

'I remember feeling very alone at the time. People just think things come so easily to them, but it's been a struggle.'

Ellie also admitted that she didn't announce the miscarriage publicly because she was scared of trolling and triggering others.

Now, however, Ellie has chosen to use her public platform to draw attention to miscarriage and infertility by speaking out about her own experiences.

Since falling pregnant again, Ellie admitted that she felt nervous during the first trimester.

'There's always an element of nervousness going into each scan and every little symptom you think, oh my God, is it going to happen to us again?'

'But we're just so grateful that this one has stuck around,' she said.

The couple are keeping the baby's gender a secret, with Ellie sharing that they've already chosen a more 'traditional' name for their bundle of joy.

The reality TV couple revealed the happy news of their pregnancy in a heartwarming Instagram post on Monday, sharing audio from their final MAFS episode that now carries a special meaning.

In the footage, Jono and Ellie walk along a beach while occasionally cradling her baby bump and holding sonogram images.

Meanwhile, in the audio, the late relationship expert Mel Schilling asks Ellie what she envisions for her future with Jono.

'The white picket fence,' Ellie replied.

'Baby? Is that what you see?' Mel then asked.

'I want to have a family and just the average Australian dream,' Ellie responded.

Ellie's dream is now becoming a reality, with the loved-up couple confirming they are expecting their first baby together. The child is due to arrive in April 2027.

'Baby McCullough coming April 2027,' the pair captioned their post.
