Married At First Sight bride Julia Vogl's ex-boyfriend makes shock admission about her sexuality - and reveals why her relationship with Grayson McIvor was doomed

The ex-boyfriend of Married At First Sight bride Julia Vogl has cleared the air about the major misconception people have about her sexuality.

Jarrah Volpe, who was in a relationship with the Melbourne-based former journalist from 2020 to 2023, told Daily Mail that Julia had been open about her bisexuality when they were together - and that she had dated several women before him.

'A couple of her partnerships before we got together were with girls. When we first got together, it was one of the first things we spoke about, it was never an issue,' Jarrah began.

'It wasn't a surprise to me that she was bisexual, because I have always known her to be that. It never took away from our relationship, never affected it. It wasn't a surprise to me at all.'

He was keen to dismiss reports suggesting Julia was exclusively lesbian, insisting their mutual attraction was proof she was also drawn to men. 

'I never felt that Julia wasn't attracted to me, and we were together for three years. Never in our relationship was there a conflict of her interest in me, because I was a man,' he said.

Jarrah also explained why he wasn't shocked that Julia's on-screen marriage to Grayson McIvor ultimately failed.

'It wasn't a surprise, because Jules is a really affectionate person. I knew she liked me because she was always touching me, our arms around each other, et cetera. I could see that their closeness and physicality wasn't there,' he said.

'It felt like there wasn't that sense of genuine attraction between them; there didn't seem to be a spark.'

Jarrah also spoke about Julia's new relationship with a female music teacher in Melbourne, named Sasha Millar, and why he thought their love was genuine.

'I really see affection between them. Jules' arms are right around Sasha, they are kissing. It's a beautiful energy to be around,' he said.

'I believe she is so much happier to be in a relationship that is expanding her, making her feel grounded, that is really celebrating her. She has someone that is loyal and in her corner, Sasha has got Jules' back.'

He added that Julia's experiences on MAFS would have taught her a lot about what she is looking for in a relationship, and what she refuses to compromise on.

'Jules would have taken so much in that relationship with Grayson about what she doesn't want, and how to approach her next relationship so it provides her the partnership she is looking for,' he said. 

Jarrah finished by revealing the one aspect of Julia's portrayal on the dating experiment that left him disappointed. 

'What I was shattered about is that they made her really one-dimensional,' he said.

'They kept saying that she was bisexual. They didn't show her personality, who she actually is. 

'Jules is, in the best way, weird and authentically herself. I feel it is such a shame they made her so one-dimensional in her sexuality, that they didn't show her beautiful personality.' 

It come after reports that Julia has found love following her split from Grayson. 

The MAFS bride has moved on from the ill-fated television marriage with an edgy Melbourne music teacher named Sasha.

The 35-year-old confirmed she was dating Sasha in a chat with Daily Mail earlier this month. 

And now the identity of the Toorak-based musician has been revealed. 

Sasha, a heavily-tattooed brunette, works as a travelling music teacher who is proficient in singing and guitar. 

Julia confirmed she is in a new same-sex relationship to Daily Mail last Tuesday, revealing she has 'never been happier' after leaving the experiment.
