Mark 'MG' Geyer's major next career move has been revealed after his shock axing  from Triple M.

The radio star, 57, has already landed himself another lucrative radio gig just two months after he was axed from the network after 17 years.

He has signed a three-year deal with Sydney rivals 2GB and will join incoming host Clinton Maynard on the station's new drive program, Sydney Now.

'I'm pumped to be joining the team at 2GB and very grateful for the opportunity,' Geyer said of his new job.

'Some of the biggest names in radio have gone through those 2GB corridors, so it's humbling to be a part of such an established team. Let's rip in!'

The NRL great will also feature weekly with The Continuous Call Team and Wide World of Sports programs as part of his new role.

Mark 'MG' Geyer's major next career move has been revealed after he was shockingly axed from Triple M

He will join returning stars Paul Gallen, Darryl 'The Big Marn' Brohman, Mark 'Piggy' Riddell, Josh Morris and Mark Levy on The Continuous Call Team.

2GB's content manager Luke Davis said of his appointment: 'We're so excited to welcome Mark Geyer to the 2GB and Nine Radio family!

'MG is a league legend, an experienced media personality, a business owner, a voice of Western Sydney – and never short of an opinion.

'We're looking forward to his unique insights across the NRL season – and further-strengthening our top-rating Continuous Call Team line-up as we enter our 39th year on air.'

Geyer was sacked from Triple M in November in a shock shake-up, with Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealing that he has been replaced by TV star Beau Ryan.

Many were shocked by Triple M's decision to part company with Geyer, who has been a fan favourite on the station's Mick & MG in the Morning for two years.

In a huge hosting shake-up, Geyer's former radio co-host Mick Molloy is also moving to Melbourne's radio airwaves in 2025.

Their breakfast show is being renamed Beau, Tarsh & Woodsy and will be helmed by new hosts Beau, Natarsha Belling and former West Tigers Captain Aaron Woods.

Their first episode will air on January 20, 2025, and continue to run from 6am to 9am on weekdays.

The reasons why Geyer has been axed from the station remain unclear, and the Penrith icon is yet to speak out on the matter.

However, former Penrith star Lou Zivanovic said Geyer had been left 'devastated' and 'blindsided' by his sudden axing.

Geyer's co-host Molloy recently made his first public comment on the matter and told how tough it has been to work without the sportsman.

'You'll be aware that MG is not coming back next year and this is very sad for me. It's been tough doing the show for the last week and a half without him,' he told Triple M listeners.

'I've really wanted to talk about his situation, but it's not right because he hasn't spoken about it himself. And out of respect for MG, I think it's his story to tell and he needs to get that out and people need to hear it too.

'What I can say is this, I love the bloke. I have absolutely thoroughly enjoyed doing the show with him for two years, to coming in to work with him for two years.

'He makes me laugh. He's one of the most unique men I've ever met in my life.

'There's many people who are sad here (at Triple M) that he's not going to be back next year.

'I can't tell you how much I love him and I really hope we can maintain our friendship for many years to come. He is one of the great men I've ever met and I really wish him all the best.'

Geyer, who was capped three times for Australia and helped Penrith to their first premiership win in 1991, retired from professional footy in 2000.

He went on to pursue a career in media, having written extensively for newspapers, before taking up roles with Triple M and Fox Footy.
