Those who pre-ordered Marathon on Steam following its release date reveal may have noticed something strange come in the aftermath of their eager purchase, as Bungie's other big release was being sneakily installed for those keen on the upcoming extraction shooter.
In a statement from the official Marathon development team account, news that this ultimately harmless (but funny) bug has been fixed was conveyed to the public.
It reads: "We've resolved an issue where Destiny 2 would begin installing after pre-ordering Marathon on Steam. We have also resolved an issue where Collector's Edition owners would receive an error when attempting to activate their game code on Steam."
Marathon has proven quite the popular pre-order ever since the release date announcement occurred earlier this week. The game quickly soared to the upper echelons of Steam's top sellers page, ranking only under some AAA titles with major discounts and mainstays like Arc Raiders and Counter Strike 2.
The art lead for Marathon recently left the team of his own volition, only a few months before the game's release. This came following a major gameplay overhaul for Marathon following public tests, as well as an art plagiarism scandal which reportedly rocked morale at the company.
