After you finish binge-watching The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 on Netflix, you can see its star — the wonderful Manuel Garcia-Rulfo — in a key role in Jurassic World Rebirth. Based on Michael Connelly’s book series, The Lincoln Lawyer recently returned for its fourth season on Netflix, and it’s already been renewed for a fifth.
The Lincoln Lawyer revolves around Mickey Haller, a criminal defense attorney and recovering addict who works out of the back of his Lincoln Navigator while he takes on cases around Los Angeles. Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey is very different from the version Matthew McConaughey played in the initial movie adaptation, and it didn’t take long for the studios to come calling.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo Played A Key Role In Jurassic World Rebirth
In between seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer, Garcia-Rulfo played a major role in Jurassic World Rebirth. The main plot sees Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey traveling to a former InGen research facility to collect some samples for a heart disease treatment. But there’s also a B-story involving a family sailing through dino-infested waters and getting shipwrecked on the island, and that’s where Garcia-Rulfo comes into play.
Garcia-Rulfo plays Reuben Delgado, a single father vacationing with his two daughters, Teresa and Isabella, and, much to Reuben’s chagrin, Teresa’s boyfriend, Xavier. Garcia-Rulfo has a lot of fun stuff to do in the movie, from his dad jokes to his action scenes to his love-hate relationship with Xavier. Lincoln Lawyer fans will love this character.
Why Jurassic World Rebirth Is Worth Watching
Jurassic World Rebirth isn’t a masterpiece on par with the Steven Spielberg original, but then very few movies are. Its plot is a bit far-fetched — there must be a better way to treat heart disease — but it’s definitely one of the better Jurassic Park sequels. Director Gareth Edwards knows his way around a VFX-laden action spectacle, and Rebirth is jam-packed with great set-pieces.
The characters are all really lovable; Johansson and Bailey share a fun screwball relationship, and the Delgados have a believable family dynamic. It maintains a nice, brisk pace and has a ton of awesome dino action. Jurassic World Rebirth might not be a great movie, but it is solid mindless blockbuster entertainment — just don’t think too much into the plot.
