June 'Mama June' Shannon says she's nearly a year removed from a cancer scare which occurred about two years after the tragic death of her daughter Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell from cancer.
'I had a total hysterectomy unexpectedly last year - last April - it was not expected,' the McIntyre, Georgia native, 46, told Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast. 'It was a scare for me.'
Mama June detailed the medical process involved that led to her having her uterus surgically taken out.
'I did have some fibroid cysts that went to separate cysts, and we had a little scare,' Mama June said.
The reality star was accompanied in the appearance by daughters Jessica 'Chubbs' Shannon, 29; Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird, 26; and Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson, 20, as they promoted season 8 of the family's We TV series, Mama June: From Not to Hot.
Mama June referenced Chickadee's passing at the age of 29 on December 9, 2023 - about 10 months after she had been diagnosed with stage four adrenal carcinoma.

She said, 'Me, in my mind, going what Anna went through, I was worried it was going to be ovarian cancer.'
Mama June told the outlet that she remains 'still dealing with medical issues' but they're 'totally separate' from the aforementioned ailments.
Mama June said that 'some days are a struggle for' her, 'but it’s nothing like' battling cancer.
Pumpkin said that 'some days are better than others' as she continues to mourn her late sibling.
'I still catch myself sometimes late at night, like if I'm scrolling TikTok, going to Anna's page and watching her old videos with the kids,' Pumpkin explained.
The family cited how the 2023 Warren Zeiders song Pretty Little Poison had been played at Chickadee's funeral; and how it continues to remind them of her when they hear it in their daily lives.
Mama June said that her ongoing health issue - which is linked to the end of her menstrual periods - could have a devastating impact on her day-to-day life if it worsens.
'I tell people, "We know it’s not ever gonna kill me, but it could immobilize me,"' she said.

Mama June took to social media in December, on the two-year anniversary of Chickadee's death to grieve with her fans.
She said that 'losing a child has been one of the hardest things that [she's] ever went through - ever, in [her] whole, entire f**king life - even outside of drug addiction.'
Mama June said that she's done her best to stay strong, adding that 'just 'cause [she's] not on here boo-hooing doesn't mean [she] don't have bad days - don't mean [she's] not a f**king emotional wreck half the damn time.'
Mama June said in a statement on Instagram at the time of Chickadee's passing that she had died 'with her family around her' after 'she gave one hell of a fight for 10 months' against the deadly disease.
