It's official—Marvel is bringing The Defenders back together.
Debuting 10 years after its predecessor series, Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox as the titular hero. Additional cast members include Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Wilson Bethel, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, and Zabryna Guevara, among others. Its first season debuted in 2025, with its second following in 2026.
The prior Daredevil show shared continuity with several other Netflix series, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. The Defenders brought the characters together in a crossover miniseries, and now, nearly a decade later, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is reuniting the team. The first of several confirmed cast members from the franchise to return is Krysten Ritter, who has played Jessica Jones since 2015.
Recently, Ritter opened up about returning to her fan-favorite Marvel role, emphasizing the effort put into recreating the character's simple-yet-recognizable look. Over on the Daredevil official Instagram, the actress showed off Jessica's "iconic leather jacket." Ritter explained that the one she wears in Born Again "is actually new," but she does know what became of the original.
"The jacket that I had for the original series, I kept... Stole," she explained. "I had it in my closet just waiting. I gave it to Emily Gunshor, our costume designer on Daredevil: Born Again. And we remade everything." Ritter complimented the new jacket and provided further insight into why it is so essential to Jessica from a character standpoint.
"Jessica doesn't wear a superhero costume, so what she does instead is, like, armor herself to feel, like, tough and cool and protected. And blends into, like, the streetwear. I could do anything in this jacket, and I have."
Previously, Ritter unpacked her MCU return with Screen Rant, crediting fans for making it possible. She stated: "We're back by popular demand, and it's really exciting and probably how these guys feel like putting those boots on again—it was as if no time had passed."
Per Ritter, "a character that you play for so long really gets into the cells of your body, and it's fun to then find ways to go deeper." Though she kept the plot details of her Born Again arc under wraps, the actress concluded that she thinks what the show is "doing is really cool," and she is excited to step back into "an iconic character that [she] adore[s] and love[s]."
