A familiar baseball bat has returned to the world of The Walking Dead.

Now, Collider has released a new image from The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3, which sees Maggie handing Lucille over to Negan. This new version of Lucille, introduced in season 2, comes equipped with an electrical shock alongside its barbed wire exterior. In the image, Maggie can be seen giving it to him while they're sitting in a bar, seemingly as a sign of trust. However, it's unclear just how strained their relationship still is, nor what Maggie may be asking for in exchange for the baseball bat. Check out the image below:

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 ended with Maggie and Negan deciding to work together after a whole host of events resulted in a number of catastrophic results. While Bruegel's group was ultimately defeated, Ginny ended up succumbing to her injuries and becoming a Walker. Maggie also stabbed Negan, intent on killing him, before allowing him to live, the pair forming a begrudging alliance with Perlie Armstrong. New Babylon has also marched into Manhattan, while the Dama and Hershel are intent on rebuilding the world in their own image.

Dead City season 3 is set to return in summer 2026 on AMC and AMC+, though no exact release date has been confirmed at the time of writing. The eight-episode season will be the first with Seth Hoffman serving as showrunner, replacing Eli Jorné from the previous two seasons. Hoffman is best known for writing for The Walking Dead seasons 4 through 6, including the episodes "Too Far Gone," "Conquer," and "No Way Out." He'll be writing two episodes of season 3, including the premiere.
