The fall of Eregion left The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power with a very different Middle-earth to explore. Sauron’s deception had devastating consequences, costing the Elves a city and giving him the means to extend his influence further. For the people who survived, recognizing the enemy was only the beginning of the fight.

That makes the next chapter particularly significant for viewers waiting to see the series reach the events behind J.R.R. Tolkien’s most famous story. The Rings of Power have already begun changing the lives of their bearers. Now, Sauron is working toward the one creation that could bring those separate struggles under his control.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres November 11 on Prime Video, putting its return less than three weeks away. The eight-episode season begins with four episodes releasing together, giving viewers half the season on premiere day. Two more episodes follow November 18, with the final pair scheduled for November 25. That schedule means the entire season will be available before Thanksgiving in the United States. It also makes this a considerably more concentrated release, with the story unfolding across three Wednesdays. Anyone planning to follow along as episodes arrive should set aside more than a single hour for the November 11 premiere.

‘The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Brings Celeborn Into the Story

The new season moves the story five years beyond the fall of Eregion, finding Middle-earth deep in its war against Sauron. His forces have spread while the surviving realms struggle to resist him. Prime Video’s official description places his next objective at the center of the conflict: creating the One Ring and securing the power to defeat his remaining enemies.

Charlie Vickers returns as Sauron, with Morfydd Clark back as Galadriel and Robert Aramayo as Elrond. One of the season’s major additions is Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, bringing Galadriel’s husband into the series after their long separation, giving her a personal reunion to navigate alongside the continuing consequences of Sauron’s manipulation. The expanding cast also includes Eddie Marsan as Thrain and Andrew Richardson as Anárion. Simon Pegg joins as the voice of the Balrog, adding another familiar name to a creature whose awakening has already threatened Khazad-dûm, and giving the creature a voice for the first time. With the Dwarves facing danger beneath their mountain, and Sauron pursuing domination above ground, the new season has several fronts of the conflict to follow.

Daniel Weyman’s Gandalf also enters this chapter having finally discovered his name. Meanwhile, the Elves’ resistance continues after the destruction of Eregion, with Lindon and Rivendell among the strongholds standing against Sauron. The coming episodes bring those stories closer to the creation of the object that will eventually draw all of Middle-earth into another war.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres November 11 on Prime Video.
