Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is finally coming to theaters this week on December 20. However, there have been some early screenings for press and fan events, which means spoilers are bound to sprout up ahead of time. Unfortunately, it also means that phone recordings of the film’s post-credits scene are starting to appear online. Sonic fans, this is your PSA to stay vigilant and maybe look away from social media for a few days.

This Narrative Adventure About Doomed Teenage Dinosaurs Feels Too Real

Recordings of the scene have been posted on sites like TikTok and YouTube, and while we won’t be posting them here, we have verified that the clips and discussions around them are spreading to sites like X (formerly Twitter) and Bluesky. The algorithm is cold and uncaring, and will very likely show you screencaps or posts about them if you’re at all close to the Sonic community, so I’d recommend looking away from anything other than curated feeds for the next few days.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler says the post-credits tease will set up a possible fourth film. Last month, we offered up our own theories about who might show up. To avoid giving away any major details, we will not comment on how right or wrong we were.

Official reviews for Sonic 3 aren’t out yet, but early impressions from advance screenings are calling it the best movie in the live-action series thus far. As a lifelong Shadow the Hedgehog stan, I’m glad to hear that. I rewatched the first two movies last week as a refresher, and that first one is actually a lot better than I remembered. These movies still have their problems, like an overreliance on pop culture references and too much of the human characters for my liking, but it sounds like the third movie is addressing some of those issues. We’ll have our full review on Kotaku when the film launches later this week.
