The TV Week Logie Awards could be heading for the biggest hosting shake-up in years, with insiders claiming Sam Pang has quietly decided to step away from the role.
It was reported this week that there were rumblings Sam, 52, was planning to pass the Logies host torch after three years.
According to well-placed TV sources, Channel Seven executives are now scrambling behind the scenes to lock in a replacement capable of handling television's night of nights.
'Sam felt he'd nailed it,' one insider told Daily Mail.
'He loved doing the Logies but there was also a feeling he'd taken the role as far as he wanted to creatively and now wanted to focus on other opportunities.'
Daily Mail understands Sam's reported exit was amicable, but it has left Seven facing enormous pressure to find a host who can modernise the event while still appealing to mainstream audiences.

According to whispers inside the network, several very different names are now being discussed internally – including Robert Irwin
According to whispers inside the network, several very different names are now being discussed internally.
Among those believed to be on the shortlist are comedians Aaron Chen, Jim Jefferies, and Kitty Flanagan, as well as beloved wildlife warrior Robert Irwin.
'There's a real divide internally about what direction the Logies should go in,' the source said.
'Some executives want somebody edgy and unpredictable, while others think the event needs a more universally loved, family-friendly face.'
Unsurprisingly, Robert Irwin's name is generating enormous buzz.
Insiders say the US Dancing With the Stars champion is increasingly being viewed across the industry as one of the safest and most commercially valuable young stars in Australian television.
'Robert appeals to everybody,' the source said.
'Families love him, advertisers love him, and he already feels bigger than just one network.'
Fisk stars Kitty Flannagan and Aaron Chen are also reportedly in the mix
Comedian Jim Jeffries' name has also been touted, according to insiders
While Seven is believed to be considering major changes inside the awards ceremony itself, sources say one thing won't be changing anytime soon – the network's hugely successful red carpet coverage.
Despite ongoing speculation, insiders insist there are currently no plans to move Dr Chris Brown or Sonia Kruger from the pre-show red carpet special into the main hosting role.
'Seven sees the red carpet as its own major television event now,' the insider explained.
'Chris and Sonia work incredibly well there, and the network doesn't want to disrupt that formula.'
Industry insiders say the decision comes at a critical moment for the Logies, with networks desperate to keep the awards ceremony culturally relevant in an increasingly fragmented television landscape.
'There's enormous pressure to make the Logies feel exciting again,' one insider said.
'The host now has to work across traditional television, social media and viral moments all at once.'
Seven executives are reportedly very aware that whoever lands the job could shape the future identity of the awards show for years to come.
'This isn't just about replacing Sam Pang,' the source said.
'It's about deciding what the next era of the Logies actually looks like.'

TV Tonight reported this week there were unconfirmed reports the affable host had decided to walk away
Sam appeared to have confirmed the chatter on this week's Front Bar
Sam's cheeky and irreverent comedy as Logies host for three years running proved to be a big hit with audiences and TV's A-list, as well as a major ratings winner for Seven.
However, TV Tonight reported this week that there were unconfirmed reports the affable host had decided to walk away.
And Sam appeared to confirm the chatter on this week's Front Bar.
Co-hosts Mick Molloy and Andy Maher quizzed Sam on why he hadn't been 'keeping an eye on AFL commentary' as frequently as he used to.
'Some of us are busy,' Sam said.
'Not hosting the Logies,' Mick replied, referencing the recent reports. 'What are you doing? Are you hosting the Logies or not?'
'It's not looking good,' Sam replied.
