Lionel Richie Details Strong Bond With Sofia Richie's Baby Boy Henry

Lionel—who shares Sofia and son Miles Richie, 31, with ex Diane Alexander—reflected on the early days of meeting each of his grandbabies. 

"You know that stage of the baby part where the leg becomes a drumstick and you just can't keep your mouth off of the little drumstick," he mused. "I'm so sorry. But you know, it's that thing where you can just blow on the stomach and the little smile comes on the face."

And it's been a joy watching Sofia, 27, step up as mom to Henry and Eloise. 

"I get to say, 'Oh, you're sleeping timetable is off, hm?'" he joked to E! earlier that year. "As a parent, you have to go for it."

For Sofia—who tied the knot with the Atlantic Records CEO in 2023—navigating the ups and downs of motherhood has been transformative.

"I've learned more in the past six months than I have in my entire life," she explained to Vogue in January 2024. "And also just like what the female body is capable of."

"Every week brings new things," she added, "whether it's hormonal shifts or expansion—there's just so much our bodies go through, and it's so interesting to experience it all."
