Lies Of P Overture DLC Gets New Grisly New Trailer & Release Window

As of the most recent PlayStation State of Play, the long-awaited DLC for Lies of P has received a new trailer, revealing new gameplay footage and a release window. Originally released in September 2023 and developed by Neowiz Games, Lies of P quickly became one of the most positively received Soulslikes to not be developed by genre originator FromSoftware. After the game's release, it was announced that it would be receiving DLC, but little had been heard since.

As revealed in a new trailer shown during the PlayStation State of Play on February 12, Lies of P's DLC will be titled Overture, and is set for release at an unspecified date in Summer 2025. The brief trailer, which shows off new areas, bosses, weapons, and abilities, gives a few vague hints about the story, implying that Overture will be set in a different time period from the main game, with most of the areas on display taking on a winter theme.

While the trailer is mostly vague about the potential story of Overture, the video description on YouTube confirms the DLC is a prequel to the main game. Overture still features the puppet Pinocchio as the main playable protagonist, but will provide players with several new weapon options, including - as can be seen in the trailer - a bow, a large sword that can make use of a powerful ranged attack, claws, and a light sword which can attack with several rapid slashes.

Along with new options for players, the trailer for Overture also puts on display several new enemies and bosses to use them on. The main boss, who also seems to be an important story figure, is a blue-skinned woman in control of a flying puppet, who can be seen fighting with a sort of dual ball-and-chain weapon later in the trailer. Oher potential bosses and enemies include a large, multi-limbed Carcass monster, a giant infected shark, a human-sized opponent wielding a large hammer, and some smaller Carcass enemies.

While the base game of Lies of P couldn't exactly be called tame, Overture does look like it's pushing the title in an even flashier, more action-oriented direction, most notably with Pinocchio performing a multiple-seconds long attack near the end of the trailer that looks more like a move out of Devil May Cry than Dark Souls. At the same time, while the hints towards the DLC's story are vague, it does look like it might tackle some loose ends left from the base game, including what looks like Alidoro crashing through a window in a cutscene.

Unfortunately, there's still a while to wait before the release of Lies of P's DLC, but Overture's first trailer should still give fans a taste of what to expect when it finally launches in Summer 2025, especially after past Lies of P DLC updates. Hopefully, Overture can live up to the high quality standards set by Lies of P's base game, and deliver on the exciting combat promised by the trailer.
