Over on Reddit, one user shared a post detailing leaks shared by Nick on the XboxEra Podcast, in which he detailed tidbits of information he had heard around what the game could be like. The most interesting quote is that they are planning on, "Staying in that same track of Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom."
While those games were obviously enormously popular in their own right, there are many out there who feel it's an era that can now be safely left behind. The comments were also predictably divided on the matter, with one saying, "They said it won't be in the same Hyrule but did you really think they would shift away from the Breath of the Wild formula? Breath of the Wild + Tears of The Kingdom have outsold every mainline 3D Zelda game in history."
While another added, "I liked Breath a lot, and to a lesser extent, Tears. I’m hoping they can figure out a way to make the series closer to Zelda 1 by locking off portions of the world behind items and having interesting dungeons. I think that’s all that’s really missing."
"Breath of the Wild is my favorite game of all time and I enjoyed Tears of the Kingdom as well. Hell, I'm even into Warriors games now because I love this era. One final entry would be nice, and then I'm excited about anything new," a third said.
Whatever we do get next, it's a fairly safe assumption that there will be some kind of announcement on the next Zelda game before too long. The Breath of the Wild formula is likely here to stay, but there are still a world of possibilities for exciting new experiences in the series despite that.
