Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Free Download Available Now

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake finally got a full reveal at the recent dedicated Zelda Direct, as we got a good look at the visuals and gameplay we're going to be getting in a couple of months. While everyone has their own opinions on the direction taken by Nintendo, there's no doubt that it was nice to see Link return to one of his most iconic forms.

We also got a proper release date for the first time, with a currently scheduled arrival date of November 5, 2026, for those who are waiting on tenterhooks to give it a go for the first time. Before then, the developer is getting everyone in the mood by dropping other, tangential releases, including one that will actually make up a big portion of the playing experience.

Over on the official website for Nintendo Music, you should be able to find the brand-new listing for the special release of the title theme track from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Clocking in at a little under two minutes, it's the first window we have had into any of the game's soundtrack.

As with all songs on the Nintendo Music streaming service, you will need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to listen to it, but as many on the Switch 2 have that anyway, it is a nice way to get hyped ahead of the big day in November.

Despite the full reveal, it is a little difficult to tell how far Nintendo have gone with their changes to the original game. The characters are fully voiced now, the visuals are updated, and there is a full orchestral score, but many of the zones featured seem as though they are essentially the same as the version we played in the original game.

The developer did build the game from the ground-up for the Nintendo Switch 2, rather than using the original as a base to re-skin, and there are enhanced controls and modern camera movements that should make the game more palatable to the modern player.

It seems as though this latest effort is going to be much more similar to the recent Star Fox reissue than anything else, and that means that the full remake treatment (with additional content in each zone) is likely a bit of a pipe dream. That said, it will be nice to return to Ocarina of Time in a way that doesn't require emulation or setting up the old N64 if nothing else.
