- Leaked photos of a Samsung charger suggest the Galaxy S26 series won't natively support magnetic wireless charging
- Though one or more of them may at least support 25W wireless charging, which would be an upgrade
- We've also seen leaked renders of cases intended for the Galaxy S26 series
Just yesterday we were writing about a major upgrade that now looks almost certain to come to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, but now another major upgrade is looking a whole lot less likely, as the availability of native magnetic wireless charging has been called into question.
This long-rumored feature is basically like Apple’s MagSafe – allowing you to magnetically attach chargers and accessories to the back of the phone, but leaked images of an upcoming Samsung charger believed to be intended for the Galaxy S26 series suggest this won’t be present.
Shared by SamMobile, the packaging shows that this is a 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charger, but in the small print it says “for Galaxy phones, ensure you use this charger with a Qi2-ready case to enable charging.” So that rather suggests the Samsung Galaxy S26 series won’t have built in magnets and will instead need a case with magnets in order to use accessories like this.
If so, that’s no real change from the Samsung Galaxy S25 series – although those phones top out at 15W wireless charging, so it’s likely we’ll at least see a power boost to 25W with one or more Galaxy S26 models. Of course, we’d take this with a pinch of salt for now, but it’s not looking promising on the magnet front.
From chargers to cases
These aren’t the only leaked Samsung Galaxy S26-related images though, as reputable leaker Evan Blass has also shared some case renders, which include the phones inside.
There aren’t too many surprises here though, with the designs matching previous leaks and looking quite a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S25 series too, with the main difference being that the rear lenses are housed in a raised camera block rather than jutting out individually.
You can see that the Samsung Galaxy S26 has three rear lenses and the S26 Ultra has four, just like their predecessors, and you can also see the front of one of the phones, complete with a centered punch-hole cut-out for the selfie camera.
The cases – which come from UAG – also have circles on the back, suggesting that they probably have magnets built in – of the kind required to work with the leaked charger above.
Samsung is reportedly unveiling the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, so we should find out how accurate all this is then.
