New information has emerged regarding the death of Lauren Bennett.

One day after her former musical group G.R.L. confirmed the singer’s death at the age of 36, Lauren’s father Richard Bennett shared a heartfelt tribute to his daughter—that was reposted by her former mentor Robin Antin—in which he detailed some of the circumstances surrounding her passing.

“Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication,” Richard posted to Instagram July 7. “As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her.”

Lauren was confirmed to have died on May 29 in Meopham, Kent, in the United Kingdom, according to coroner records obtained by BBC News. The Kent and Medway Coroner Service is conducting an investigation into her death ahead of an inquest to be held in October. As the Medway Council explained, investigations and inquests take place when a cause of death is unknown, as well as when a death is violent or unnatural, or when a person dies in prison, police custody or otherwise in state custody.

While the “Hurricane” singer’s father did not confirm her exact cause of death, he also pushed back at any “suspicions” regarding her passing.

“We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death,” Richard wrote, “only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need.”

“Lauren was an incredible person and artist: creative, talented, funny, and as humble as she was beautiful,” he continued. “She was deeply loved by all who knew her and made a lasting impact on countless lives through her music, her kindness, and the way she made people feel.”

Richard also wrote that Lauren “was deeply loved and will be missed every day for the rest of our lives.”

He added, “Her legacy lives on through her daughter, her family, and through the music she leaves behind.”

Lauren’s music career began in 2007 when she was selected by Robin out of 500 girls to join Paradiso Girls. The group’s biggest hit was 2009’s “Patron” featuring Lil Jon and Eve

Following the end of Paradiso Girls, she launched a solo career and was featured on LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” and CeeLo Green’s “Love Gun” before being recruited by Robin again for G.R.L. (Girls Rock Life) in 2012.

However, the group—which included Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen—broke up in 2014 after member Simone Battle died by suicide at age 25.

Following Lauren’s death, Robin also shared a brief message regarding the tragic news, writing on Instagram alongside her repost from Lauren’s father, “THE LOSS OF OUR ANGEL LAUREN BENNETT HAS SHATTERED OUR HEARTS.”
