Lara Worthington shares rare PDA-packed photos with husband Sam as Avatar star celebrates milestone 50th birthday

Lara Worthington has given fans a rare glimpse inside her marriage to her Avatar star husband Sam, sharing a series of intimate photos to celebrate his milestone 50th birthday.

The Australian model, 39, uploaded the sweet images to Instagram on Monday, a day after Sam Worthington turned 50.

The photos captured the notoriously private couple enjoying an alfresco dinner against a scenic mountainous backdrop as they smiled, embraced and gazed lovingly into each other's eyes.

In one image, Lara leaned in close to her husband as the pair shared an affectionate moment across the dinner table.

Another showed the beauty wrapping her arms around Sam and resting on his shoulder while beaming for the camera, while a third captured him lovingly kissing his wife's head.

Alongside the romantic gallery, Lara paid tribute to her husband with a heartfelt caption.

'My passionate, loyal Leo teddy bear. Big heart, even bigger dreams. We love you,' she wrote.

The couple have long kept their relationship out of the spotlight despite Sam's Hollywood success, making Lara's candid birthday post a rare insight into their family life.

Lara and Sam began dating in 2013 after meeting in New York, and tied the knot in a low-key ceremony the following year.

They share three sons together – Rocket, Racer and River – and split their time between Australia and the United States while largely avoiding the public eye.

Sam has enjoyed an extraordinary career in Hollywood, with his portrayal of Jake Sully in James Cameron's Avatar franchise cementing him as one of Australia's biggest international stars.

Lara's touching tribute comes as the couple continue to prove their relationship is stronger than ever, with the birthday celebration showcasing the enduring bond they have built over more than a decade together.

The couple welcomed Rocket on March 24, 2015 in Los Angeles.

Racer was born in New York in October 2016, approximately 18 months later.

The genetically-blessed duo secretly welcomed River in June 2020.  

The family is now based in the US, but Lara says she'll always be Australian at heart. 

'I still have an Australian passport. I'm still Australian!' she previously admitted.

Lara also told The Daily Telegraph that the couple is enjoying growing old together.

'We've only got each other. Sam and I are a good team,' she said.

'We're both Australians and we have the same values. We come at our children as a team... I think that's really important.'
