It’s been nearly a decade since Kylie Jenner’s short-lived reality show Life of Kylie premiered on E! The show only had an eight-episode first season, airing from August 6, 2017, to September 17, 2017, before it was canceled. While the reality show promised an in-depth look into Kylie’s life, it didn’t have enough substance for fans to get behind it. Critics said the show felt superficial and unfulfilling, and that it didn’t offer new insights they couldn’t be found on social media or Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Life of Kylie struggled with low ratings, including a decline after a dismal premiere, explaining its quick cancelation. But it may be time for Kylie to try being the star of her own show again.
The Kardashian-Jenner family has moved on from KUWTK to The Kardashians, their remastered reality show in collaboration with Hulu. Despite the hype around the show (and the big budget), it has failed to attract the same audiences KUWTK did during its glory days. Reports claim Kris Jenner is worried about the future of The Kardashians, as Hulu may decide to pull the plug if it’s no longer financially viable. The network needs to try something new if they want to save the Kardashian family’s place on reality television, though the answer may not be looking at how they can revamp The Kardashians. Rather, a new spin-off that learns from its predecessors’ mistakes and focuses on a family member fans want to know more about could do the trick.
Why Kylie Jenner's Life Would Bring the Drama
There are a lot of Kardashian-Jenners to choose from, so Hulu could have its pick of who it wants to create a spin-off around. But there are several strong reasons to choose Kylie. For one, her personal life is more intriguing than ever. She’s done her best the past year to keep her relationship with Timothee Chalamet on the down-low. Kylie’s refusal to speak about their status fueled break-up rumors, so fans went into a frenzy at their recent appearance at the Golden Globes, which showed they’re still very much together. Fans are clearly eager for more, and would tune into a new show if it was a chance to see more of the super-secretive couple.

Rob Kardashian Could Save 'The Kardashians'
The elusive Kardashian brother could be what's needed to revamp the series.
Kylie’s baby daddy drama could also be a juicy plotline. She wasn’t a mother when Life of Kylie premiered. But nowadays, Kylie has to balance being a mom to her two young kids, whom she shares with her ex Travis Scott, alongisde her high profile career. The rapper has become more controversial than ever in recent years, thanks to the Astroworld tragedy and several recent arrests. Kylie has been careful with her words when questioned about her ex, leaving many questions unanswered.
Fans would likely tune into a spin-off if it became the platform where Kylie shared her thoughts on Travis. If it wants to succeed, a Kardashian-Jenner spin-off would need to not be afraid to talk about the hard stuff – the things fans really want to hear about. Kylie’s current life offers a lot of material to work with, but she needs to be willing to expose it all on camera.
Convincing Kylie May Be Hulu's Biggest Challenge
Money may not be the biggest challenge for Hulu (or Kris Jenner) when it comes to a spin-off – getting Kylie on board is likely the real issue. Though she’s been on reality TV most of her life, and continues to star on The Kardashians, Kylie has been more private about certain subjects in recent years. One report claims Kris has tried to pressure Kylie to get Timothee to appear on The Kardashians in an effort to boost ratings, to which the makeup mogul has pushed back against. Kylie has also said she wants to feature her kids in the spotlight less as they get older, so as to protect them. Starring in her own show may not be on her radar, given how it would throw her into the spotlight more than ever.
The Kardsahian-Jenners have had successful spin-offs before, like Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, so pushing another one out could put them back on the radar and boost interest in The Kardashians. But Hulu would need the right strategy going into things. Kylie’s personal life has a lot of drama to offer that fans want to know about. If she’s on board with getting into the nitty gritty, then Hulu has an easy recipe to for a successful new spin-off, as fans will be incentivized to tune in. Reports claim Kylie is struggling financially and business-wise, so maybe it’s as simple as Hulu naming the right price. The Kardashians have never shied away from T.V., and are always doing new things to advance their careers and stay relevant, making it hard to imagine Kylie turning down an opportunity like this, if the contract was favorable.
The Kardashians can be streamed on Hulu. Season 6 premieres on Feb. 6, 2025.
