Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet refuse to attend Met Gala together for this reason

Kylie Jenner attended last week's 2026 Met Gala solo, with fans accusing her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet of 'ditching' her on the big night.

But a source has revealed the real reason the 28-year-old makeup mogul and 30-year-old actor – who recently packed on the PDA courtside – have not gone to the event together in their three-year relationship.

Jenner has 'intentionally avoided' attending the gala with Chalamet for a superstitious reason.

'Kylie and Timothee intentionally avoided attending the Met Gala together these past few years because they didn’t want to risk the whole "Met Gala curse" thing,' an insider told Page Six.

The person explained, 'Kylie was especially superstitious about it after going to the Met with Travis [Scott] in 2018 and 2019 before they eventually split.'

Instead of accompanying his girlfriend during fashion's biggest night, the Marty Supreme star attended a New York Knicks basketball game.

A source has revealed the real reason Kylie Jenner and boyfriend Timothee Chalamet have not attended the Met Gala together in their three-year relationship

Instead of accompanying his girlfriend during fashion's biggest night last Monday, the Marty Supreme star attended a New York Knicks basketball game.

The reality television star 'just didn’t want that kind of bad luck attached to their relationship and wasn’t willing to take any chances,' the insider told Page Six about her choice to attend the annual extravaganza alone.

Jenner and ex-boyfriend Scott, 35, had an on–off relationship that began in 2017 and ended – seemingly for good – in early 2023.

They share daughter Stormi, eight, and son Aire, four.

The exes were side by side at two Met Galas throughout their six-year relationship in 2018 and 2019.

Supporting the idea of the so-called curse, Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian and ex-beau Pete Davidson broke up in August 2022, just three months after making a date night out of the Met Gala.

Similarly, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx broke up in late May 2019, shortly after they appeared at the star-studded gathering. They had been together since 2013.

Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long, who showed off their romance at the 2015 Met Gala, also parted ways four months after attending the buzzy event.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth attended the Met Gala in May 2019, six months after they wed; they announced their separation that August.

Jenner and Chalamet have been dating for over three years and live together, with marriage being a consideration, according to a Daily Mail source.

Insiders revealed in early 2025 that they had agreed to a set of stipulations regarding their relationship, including that the actor would not appear on Jenner's family Hulu series The Kardashians.

While the twosome only started attending public events together more than two years into their relationship, they have not explicitly posted each other online.

When he was profiled in a November cover story for Vogue, the Call Me By Your Name star turned down the opportunity to speak about the relationship.

He established a boundary, saying he 'will not talk about' it, but clarified, 'I don’t say that with any fear, I just don’t have anything to say.'

However, at the 2026 Critics' Choice Awards in January, Chalamet made his most open profession about his girlfriend in his acceptance speech.

'Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn't do this without you,' he effused.
