Kyle Sandilands reveals the exact moment he learned ARN wanted to fire him and the ominous text his employers sent him

Kyle Sandilands has recalled the exact moment he learned ARN wanted to cancel his multi-million dollar contract following his epic fallout with Jackie 'O' Henderson on The Kyle & Jackie O Show.

The shock jock reflected on the moment during the first episode of his new documentary series At Home With Kyle, which follows the behind-the-scenes turmoil and chaos in his life following his shock axing.

Sandilands, 55, explained that he was left dumbfounded after receiving a text from his longtime manager Bruno Bouchet saying the company was trying to cancel his contract. 

'I thought, whose contract? I didn't think mine... I thought maybe they were trying to cancel Jackie's,' he recalled. 

After asking for clarification, he received a one-word reply: 'Yours.'

'I sat up out of bed and thought, 'What the f*** is going on here? This is an ironclad contract. I mean, a 70-page bible that was impenetrable, ' Sandilands said. 

He said the prospect of losing his job immediately triggered concerns for his family and the people who depended on him.

'I've got this family. I've got businesses all over the place. I've got my own staff... everyone's got these mortgages. I've got $20 million worth of them,' he said.

'But that was fine, because it was a 10-year plan. I had all these f***ing plans. Well, that just detonated.'

Despite everything that transpired, Sandilands insisted he has no ill feelings towards Henderson.

'I'll always love and respect her like a sister. I'll never say anything bad about Jackie,' he said, revealing that he texted Jackie that 'no matter what' they would be 'good'.  

He added that he hoped his former co-host goes on to find success and said he has accepted they may never fully understand what caused the relationship to collapse.

Elsewhere, Sandilands looked back on his feud with Henderson, insisting he never believed it would spell the end of their partnership.

'Because it wasn't the biggest fight we'd ever had. I didn't think it was such a big deal,' Sandilands said.

'I thought, 'This is a nothing fight. We've done this before.''

While he admitted the situation was 'totally mishandled', he said he still believes the issues he raised about Henderson during their fight needed to be addressed.

'I don't think I'd do anything differently... apart from rewrite the ending.'

Elsewhere, the episode showed footage of Sandilands in the weeks after his suspension, showing media crews camping outside his home and continuing his commitments on Australian Idol while anxiously waiting for news about his future.

Although his career was hanging in the balance, Sandilands said he never felt humiliated by the intense public scrutiny.

'I don't really feel humiliation. It's water off a duck's back to me,' he insisted. 

Instead, he said the overwhelming support from fans and colleagues helped keep his spirits up during the ordeal.

Sandilands also revealed his wife Tegan and close friend John Ibrahim regularly checked in on his wellbeing, but insisted his mental health remained strong.

'I was a homeless teenager. I've dealt with tougher things. Lying down in the corner and crying is not the way I normally handle things.'

The episode ended with Sandilands recalling waiting for the phone call that would determine whether he would return to breakfast radio or lose everything.

'During all of this... all I'm thinking about is, am I gonna get that call? I'm back on air, or I'm fired. One or the other, what's it gonna be?'

The episode then closes with a newsreader announcing: 'Kyle and Jackie O, the famous radio show that reigned for 25 years, is finally over.' 

A final shot shows Sandilands looking heartbroken while reacting to the news.
