Kyle Sandilands is a no-show from his own program amid ongoing battle with high blood pressure and aneurysm - as his team insist this time it's 'legitimate'

Kyle Sandilands was noticeably absent from Kyle Sandilands Live on Friday morning after being struck down by what colleagues described as a genuine medical issue.

The radio king, 55, failed to appear on the broadcast, prompting concern from listeners who tuned in expecting to hear the outspoken host behind the microphone.

Instead, newsreader Brooklyn Ross opened the programme with an unexpected announcement.

'I have some sad news to report,' Brooklyn told listeners.

'This is strange, isn't it? Kyle is sick today. And from what I hear, this is a legitimate sickness.'

The tongue-in-cheek remark immediately raised eyebrows among fans familiar with Kyle's long-running reputation for taking days off.

However, his colleagues were quick to stress that this time was serious.

Kyle's manager, Bruno Bouchet, revealed the broadcaster was battling ongoing health issues and was resting under doctor's orders.

'I've spoken to him, and so look, it's basically the high blood pressure thing and the aneurysm. Doctor's orders,' he said.

In a typical Kyle-style response, the radio veteran reportedly joked about the unusual circumstances surrounding his absence.

'He was telling me this morning, "Oh isn't it funny that I'm actually sick this time around?"' he added.

Despite concerns, the team reassured listeners that Kyle was expected to phone into the show later in the broadcast.

The health scare sparked discussion among staff, who reflected on the host's work habits and commitment to the job.

Bruno revealed that during his years at KIIS FM, Kyle had become known for making a swift exit once his breakfast show wrapped up.

He recalled the presenter regularly walking out of the studio at 9.58am, just two minutes before The Kyle & Jackie O Show was officially due to finish.

But colleagues say the situation couldn't be more different on his latest venture.

According to members of the team, Kyle Sandilands Live frequently runs beyond its scheduled finish time, with Kyle often remaining at the studios well into the afternoon.

Staff claim it is not unusual to find the veteran broadcaster at the office as late as 4pm. 

The latest setback caps a turbulent opening week for Sandilands' heavily promoted independent venture, which launched after subscribers paid $99 upfront for annual access. 

But the rollout has been anything but smooth.

The debut episode on August 10 was plagued by glitches from the outset, with technical difficulties disrupting the broadcast and forcing an emergency shutdown shortly after 7am as the team attempted a hard reset. 

Rather than hide from the drama, Kyle and his crew openly acknowledged the rocky start, even cheekily naming Tuesday's second episode: 'Hopefully today's better...'
