Kurt Russell Shares How Granddaughter Rio Is Taking After Goldie Hawn
Kurt Russell knows his granddaughter Rio Hudson has sky high potential.
The Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood actor shared how the 12-year-old—whose parents are Oliver Hudson and Erinn Bartlett—takes after his longtime partner Goldie Hawn, becoming known as her mini-me.
“Rio has got something,” Kurt exclusively told E! News at The Madison NYC Red Carpet March 9. “Everybody can see it, and it’s her own. It’s very much her own, so heads up.”
As for what advice he’s given his granddaughter should she pursue a career in entertainment?
“Same as we’ve given to all our other children—none at all,” the 74-year-old quipped. “They’re gonna do things their own way. They’re gonna find things that they wanna do. You never know where it’s gonna go.”
And taking after her grandma is the highest compliment. As Kurt described the First Wives Club actress, “She’s a fabulous, unique human being.”
Previously, the Sky High actor—who shares son Wyatt Hudson, 39, with Goldie as well as Boston Russell, 46, with ex-wife Season Hubley—revealed his adorable nickname for Rio, and it pays homage to her grandmother.
“Rio is showing some serious chops with dancing ability,” Kurt told E! News during a recent interview with Wyatt. “There's something about her. A lot of people call her ‘Mini Goldie.’”

But the preteen also gets her knack for being in front of the camera from her mom Erinn, who “was an actress when she met Oliver.”
And Rio isn’t the only grandkid eyeing a career in showbiz. After all, her brothers Wilder Hudson, 18, and Bodhi Hudson, 15, as well as cousin Ryder Robinson, 22—the eldest son of Kate Hudson and ex Chris Robinson—are already booking acting gigs.
“It's an interesting family in that regard,” Kurt continued. “Nobody really intentionally looks at acting as something that must be, ‘We must follow this tradition.’ There's nobody doing that. Whether it strikes you or not, it strikes a lot of us.”

And while Kate, 46, and Oliver, 49—who Goldie shares with ex-husband Bill Hudson—have made names for themselves in Hollywood, their brother Boston couldn’t be less interested in joining the family business.
“Boston wants nothing to do with anything,” Wyatt said of his brother, joking that because of Boston's ambivalence towards the craft, “He'd be the best.”
In fact, Kurt argued that Boston’s separate career path makes him especially valuable to his loved ones, quipping, “He’s the family therapist.”
