Kurt Russell has officially joined Taylor Sheridan's western universe in a new series titled The Madison.

The Madison has an impressive cast, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Russell, Patrick J. Adams, and more, as they take on a tragic tale of love, family, and grief. The western series debuted on Paramount+ on March 14, and follows the story of the Clyburn family, originally from New York City, as they relocate to the Madison River valley in Montana after a life-shattering tragedy.

Since its debut on March 14, The Madison has been soaring on the streaming charts and is currently sitting at number two in the U.S. on Paramount+, with Sheridan's Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, sitting behind at number three. The series, so far, has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 61% from critics and a 70% rating from the general audience, with many people predicting the final few episodes of season 1 could turn it around.

Sheridan is known for bringing gritty drama series to life, mainly for Paramount, including his record-breaking franchise Yellowstone, which currently has three spin-offs available to watch on Paramount+. He is also the creator of other impressive series such as Landman, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown. He is currently making plans to leave Paramount and move to NBCUniversal, with a contract drawn up for Sheridan to move on in 2029.

It's unclear what the future entails for The Madison, but luckily, a season 2 order has already been made, as Pfeiffer confirmed in an interview with The Wrap that many scenes set to be featured in the second season have already been filmed. One major point of confusion is the connection (or lack thereof) between Yellowstone and The Madison, which both Paramount and Sheridan have denied exists despite the shows being set in the same place.

Russell has since said he would put money on the two shows interconnecting at a later date, but there has been no word since on whether that could be a possibility. Sheridan has promised to deliver and to wrap up each series in a way to not disappoint fans before his swift exit away from Paramount, but only time will tell how true those words are.

The Madison is available to stream on Paramount+.
