KRU Esports adds heat to VCT Americas Stage 2 roster in homecoming move

KRU Esports is bringing back a familiar face. Olavo “heat” Marcelo, the Brazilian Valorant duelist, is rejoining the Argentine organization ahead of VCT Americas Stage 2, set to begin in mid-July 2026.

Liquipedia officially recorded the roster addition on June 26, 2026, though Sheep Esports had reported heat’s anticipated return as early as May 28, 2026.

A familiar face in a reshuffled lineup

Heat previously competed for the org during the 2024 VCT Americas season before departing at the end of 2025.

His return fills out a roster that now reads: saadhak (Matias Delipetro), mwzera (Leonardo Serrati), Less (Felipe de Loyola Basso), Dantedeu5 (Jesus Federico Larrosa), and heat.

Why this move matters for KRU’s Stage 2 ambitions

KRU Esports has been a VCT Americas partner team since the league’s inception, meaning they hold a guaranteed slot in the competition regardless of open qualifier results.

Performances in the regional league directly determine seeding and qualification for international events, including Valorant Champions, the game’s annual world championship.

Mid-season roster moves are a standard lever in professional Valorant. Teams frequently reassess their rosters between Stage 1 and Stage 2, either to address performance gaps or to pivot tactically. KRU’s decision to bring back a player with existing institutional knowledge rather than importing an unknown quantity suggests the org prioritized continuity over experimentation.
